Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.
Baseball:
Congratulations to our baseball team on an exciting season. This team made history by being the first Edison baseball team to win regionals advancing to sectionals. Thanks to Coach Beesley, Coach Rodeffer and all our players for a wonderful season. I also want to thank all the parents, grandparents and friends who came to watch the games.
2015 - 2016 baseball info:
If your son or daughter is currently in 6th or 7th grade please mark you calendars for the following dates:
Tryouts will be Monday, Aug. 3 and Tuesday, Aug. 4 - please plan your vacations around these dates as everyone who wants to tryout must attend both days of tryouts. Practices will be Wed., Aug. 5 through Fri., Aug. 7 then Mon., Aug. 10 through Aug. 14. The season will begin on Sat., Aug. 15.
6th grade basketball:
Edison is in need of a VOLUNTEER 6th grade basketball team coach. If you or anyone you know might be interested please contact Jackie Borchardt (borchaja@champaignschools.org) ASAP
Our 6th grade program is in partnership with the Champaign Park District.
We have tryouts AFTER the 7th grade boys basketball team so any 6th graders who did not make the 7th grade team can tryout for the 6th grade team.
All the games are played at Douglas Center either on Monday or Wednesday.
We also schedule some additional games outside the park district schedule so we end up with 12-15 games.
Open gym:
Open gym will be Tues, Oct. 7 from 4:30 until 6:00 pm in the north gym (use door #7 to enter). Anyone wishing to attend must sign up with Ms. Borchardt (room 122) beginning Wed., Oct. 1.
Anyone signing up must have a current waiver form turned in.
Upon signing up Ms. Borchardt will check the IPR grades entered into the computer system by 4pm on Tues., Sept. 30. Anyone with an F cannot attend open gym on Oct. 7
Boys Basketball tryouts:
Any young man in 6th, 7th or 8th grade who wants to tryout for the basketball team MUST have their required paperwork turned in by Thurs., Oct. 2 (today)!!!
Required paperwork includes:
1. Completed Unit 4 form
2. Current physical (cannot be over 395 days from day signed by doctor)
3. Completed Waiver form
4. Copy of insurance or medical card
Tryouts for boys who have all their required paperwork will be:
Monday, Oct. 20 and Tues., Oct. 21
8th graders from 4:30 until 6:00 pm in the north gym
6th/7th graders from 6:00 until 7:30 pm in the north gym
Flyers will be available on the athletic bulletin board outside room 122 next week

Thursday, Oct. 2: XC conference meet at Urbana (varsity race only which begins at 4:20 pm)
GBB versus Tuscola, 4:15 pm
Paperwork for any young man wishing to tryout for boys basketball due
Saturday, Oct. 4: XC at Monticello, 9am
Monday, Oct. 6: GBB versus Rantoul, 4:15 pm
Tuesday, Oct. 7: XC at PBL, 4:15 pm
GBB at Parkside, 4:30 pm (players to be dismissed from class at 2:30 pm)
Open gym from 4:30 until 6 pm in north gym (enter through door #7)
Saturday, Oct. 11: XC sectionals
Edison 100 year celebration 2 - 4 pm
