Early Dismissal Thursday and Friday: School will end at 2:10 pm this Thursday and Friday, December 17 & 18.

Edison Spiritwear for the holidays: we have a few items in stock and available for gift-giving!  Short-sleeved bling shirts in youth XL, adult M, L, and XL—boys basketball shorts in adult M, L, XL—assorted t-shirts.  First come, first served!  Contact alicia.beck72@gmail.com if interested.

Mandatory Band Parent Meeting: mark your calendars for a mandatory band parent meeting on Monday January 11, 6 pm in the auditorium.  Please contact Ms. Branch if you are unable to attend: branchki@champaignschools.org

PTSA Meeting: the next PTSA meeting is also scheduled for Monday January 11.  Get a meeting two-for-one that night!  Agenda coming soon.

Thanks for the Box Tops collected so far this year!  We will receive a check for $260 for the Box Tops we have collected and now it's time to start again.  Mrs. Wells is collecting them for new PE equipment. Support the Band Patrons at Meatheads tonight: visit Meatheads with the attached flyer and 10% of your bill will be donated to the Edison Band Patrons, to be used for music, instrument repair/purchases, and support of students needing assistance.  4 pm – 10 pm; see you there!

December Band Concert  is tonight! (Friday Dec 11) at 7 pm in the Edison auditorium.

Looking for a holiday gift for your future Central student? Central High School PTSA Spiritwear Orders-  We will place the last order of the year this Friday.  We have the new and classy Quarter Zip Charcoal Sweatshirts with the left chest emblem ($30) and the soft and cozy Full Zip Hooded Sweatshirts with the left chest emblem ($30) available for your holiday giving!  We also have classic Central Maroon tshirts ($10).  Please e-mail your order to Janet Roadcap at jsroadcap@yahoo.com by this Friday (11th) at noon to receive them by the end of next week. (note: unfortunately, we will not have Edison Spiritwear available for online ordering this holiday season, though we do have extra product for sale.  Details coming soon)

The Champaign-Urbana Elks Lodge #2497 invites all boys and girls ages 8-13 to a local free-throw shooting contest on Sunday December 13, 12:30 pm at Unity Junior High in Tolono.  This is a national contest so six local champions will advance with the chance to participate in the state finals in Chicago.  For more information, contact Roger or Lisa Quinn, 217-684-2008.

The next AV Arts club meeting will be next Wednesday Dec 9 (today!) after school. The CU Films Society will be here to show students how to operate the movie camera. There will also be updates on other projects coming up. The meeting will be in room 316.

Good luck to our 7th/8th grade boys basketball teams tonight as they host Danville South View.  The 7th grade game begins at 4:15 pm.

Our 6th grade basketball team will also be in action.  They face Monticello at Douglas Center beginning at 6:15 pm tonight.

All 7th and 8th grade girls basketball players must turn in their gym bag by tomorrow.

All 6th graders and volleyball players who have paperwork to turn in please do so by 3 pm today.

Calling all wrestlers: Wrestling begins tonight at 3 pm.  Please meet Coach Claxton in the south gym at 3 pm and come prepared to wrestle (tshirt/shorts/sweat pants/water bottle). Remember you can only attend if you have been cleared by Ms. Borchardt.  Check the list outside the cafeteria.  You must have a YES in the last column.  Wrestling is open to boys and girls.

PTSA Tissue Drive: cold and allergy season is here and Edison classrooms are woefully short on boxes of tissues, so let's restock the school!  The Tissue (facial tissue, that is) Drive is now through Friday Dec 4. There are large collection boxes for each grade level in the main office.  

Jazz Bands Concert tonight: don't miss it, 7 pm in the Edison auditorium.  Feel free to bring boxes of facial tissues to donate to the school; we'll have a collection area in the hallway.

Mark your calendar for next week's December Band Concert on Friday Dec 11, 7 pm.

Madrigal Dinner at Central High School: The 35th Annual Madrigal Dinner will be presented Saturday and Sunday, December 12th and 13th at 5:00 p.m. in the Central cafeteria.  Madrigals is a very festive event and a great way to kick of the holiday season!   Tickets are on sale until THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4th.  Tickets are $25 per adult and $10 for children.  Reservations are being accepted online at http://maroons.org/madrigals, email maroonchoirs@gmail.com or call 779-379-2313 to make reservations.  Guests not wishing to make dinner reservations may come for the concert only. 

Spring Musical: Edison's Fine Arts department will be presenting The Lion King Jr. for the Spring Musical. More than any other show before, we are in need of parental help. This is a play full of spectacle so we need help with costumes, props, puppet making, set and many other production areas. We are asking help from any parent who might be willing to volunteer their time and talent, regardless if your child is the play or not.  If you would like to help in any way contact Lisa Richter, richterli@champaignschools.org or Jeff Dare, dareje@champaignschools.org
