  • Congratulations: Edison's PTSA was pleased to honor the following at the PTA Council Dinner Thursday night: Rosalee Otto, Vernita Curry-Taylor, Julie Wallace, and Cosette Fulk. Thank you again for everything you do for Edison Middle School.

  • Edison PTSA Meeting: Our next PTSA meeting is Tuesday February 12 at 7pm in the Edison Library. All are welcome to attend.

  • Candy Grams: It's that time again.  Valentine Candy Grams will be sold next week Monday-Wednesday at lunch.  They are $.50 each and will be delivered on Thursday Feb 14th.  Make sure you know the homeroom teacher of the person you are sending to, so we can be sure to get them to the correct room.

  • Foreign Language Club: Foreign Language Club is looking for volunteers to help with their Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday celebrations. We will provide tastes of a variety of crèpes, but are looking for other recipies, foods or stories about celbrations in other countries during the Carnival/Mardi Gras festivities. We would like to offer a variety of tastings for the students so they can understand how many different ways there are to celebrate this holiday. Please contact hoyje@champaignschools.org<mailto:hoyje@champaignschools.org> or call 309838-3606 if you can help.

  • Flex Class Dolls: A Flex class at Edison is making dolls to help a local girl scout troop. They need some items to help out with this effort. If you could donate some or any of these items it would be greatly appreciated. More info and a list of items is attached.

  • PTA Council Mental Health Forum: The next PTA Council Meeting will be February 21st at the Mellon Building at 7–8:30pm. Attached is a flyer with more info.

  • NAAPID: On Monday, February 11 each of Champaign Unit 4 School District's eighteen campuses will celebrate National African-American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) as part of a month-long observance of Black History Month. NAAPID invites African-American Parents in Unit 4 to visit their child's school, meet with teachers, visit classrooms, volunteer in classrooms, and have lunch with their child. Schools will each be putting together special programming for the day.

February 5

  • AskUnit4: The first #AskUnit4 Twitter chat will take place on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 2-4 pm on Twitter. The first hour will be dedicated to questions about the Future Facilities Process where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. Participants will also be encouraged to take an online questionnaire to offer their input on the District's school facilities options. The second hour will be solely a Q&A opportunity for all those participating to ask questions to Champaign Unit 4.

  • Future Facilities Dialogue Session: Champaign Unit 4 School District will host two Future Facilities Community Dialogue sessions on February 12 at the I-Hotel and Conference Center from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Community Dialogue invites all community members, students, teachers, parents, and business owners to offer their input on possible options for updating or replacing some of the District's aging school buildings.

  • Box Tops: Pull those General Mills Box Tops off the refrigerator and out of that drawer, clip them up and send them in to Edison to turn them into $$.  Students can turn Box Tops in to any of their teachers, and they will be collected to send in to General Mills.  Box Tops need to be in to teachers by February 22nd to be turned into dollars for this school year.

  • NJHS: Applications for the Edison chapter of the National Junior Honor Society are now available on the Edison web-site and in the main office.  Applications are due to Mr. Cain by March 1, 2013.  Current National Junior Honor Society members do not need to complete the applications for this year, but should contact Mr. Cain about their 2012 community service hours.  If there are any questions please contact Mr. Cain at cainza@champaignschools.org or 351-3771.
