[Edison-PTSA] EDISON PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS--MARCH 7TH

March 7

 

  • PTSA Meeting: The next Edison PTSA meeting will be held Tuesday March 8th in the Edison Library. Informal gathering time is 6:45pm–meeting starts at 7pm.

 

  • ISAT movie:

    *  Tues., March 8 all students who met the ISAT criteria will be heading to the Beverly to watch the movie Rango.  Please make sure your child has his/her permit and money turned in by the end of school on Monday, March 7.

 

     *  pop and popcorn will be available for $1.00 EACH

 

   *  Students will also need to bring a sack lunch to school on Tues.  

  

 

    *  After the movie and lunch we will be having a mini convocation to recognize our volleyball teams and our Edison wrestlers.  After the convocation ALL students will be able to enjoy fun activies (basketball, volleyball, computer lab, drawing room, karaoke, Ipod room, chit chat room, silent reading room etc).  All activities will take place on the first floor and possibly the playground area if the weather is nice.  If any parents would like to help chaperone that would be great.  You can email Jackie Borchardt (borchaja@champaignschools.org)

 

 

 

 

  • ATHLETICS:

  Congratulations to our wrestling team.  Six of our wrestlers qualified for sectionals which took place on Sat.  Anthony Davis was one match short of qualifying for state.  Our wrestling team had a very successful season.

     7VB to play in their sectional match at Mahomet, 6:00 pm

 

Wed., March 9

     8VB to play their first regional game at Jefferson, 5:00 pm

 

Thurs., March 10

     8VB championship regional game at Jefferson, 6:00 pm

 

Sat., March 12

     7VB state games if they win their sectional game

 

Info about athletics for next year will be available after spring break.

There are physical forms and Champaign Unit 4 forms available now on the athletic bulletin board outside room 122

 

Info about baseball, softball and basketball camp at Central over spring break can be found on the athletic bulletin board outside room 122 as well.


  • Fundraiser: Edison is supporting Olive Garden's 17th annual Pasta for Pennies program benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Students are being encouraged to collect spare change to support the Society's mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin's disease and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.  Each homeroom is competing to collect the most money.  The winning homeroom will receive a pasta party provided by Olive Garden.  Currently, Mrs. Mckinley's homeroom is winning with Mrs. Witheft's and Mrs.  Altenbuamer's homerooms being a close second and third.  The Pasta for Pennies program ends March 16th. Student Council is organizing the event at Edison.

  • Important: Parents that are volunteering in the building, should not open the doors on State or Green St. to people who want in those doors. We need them to go to the door on the playground so we can screen them first.

  • Questionnaire: A PDF questionnaire is attached to the announcements. This questionnaire will assist the district in planning for the future of Edison Middle School. Please take a few moments and complete this survey. The completed questionnaires should be e mailed to ramsayba@champaignschools.org

 

March 2

 

  • Edison Spring Musical Participants: Mrs. Bahr's school website (linked through the Edison faculty site)  is now updated with the musical rehearsal schedule and other information for March and April.  Be sure to have your students contact Mrs. Bahr if they have a rehearsal conflict IN ADVANCE of the conflict day.

 

 

  • Eligibility and Transfers: Clarification for 8th graders who are requesting a transfer from their assigned high school to another Champaign Unit 4 high school and how it impacts their eligibility for sports.

 

·         If your child attends their assigned school, they will be eligible for athletics immediately.

·         If your child attends a school not within their attendance zone, they may not be eligible to compete during their freshman year.  The IHSA will make that determination.  One exemption they have granted is for students who will have an older sibling also attending that school.

 


  • 8th graders:  If you are interested in ordering a 2011 tshirt/hoodie please see Ms. Borchardt in room 122.  Second order will be placed if we have 6 orders.  Deadline will be Fri., March 11.

 

 

  • Yearbook Orders: It's time to order 2010-2011 Year Books if you did not already order them at registration in the summer.  The Year Books are $22.00. Orders can be brought to the Discipline Office with the order form or mailed to Edison Middle School at  306 West Green Street, Champaign, IL 61820 until March 18, 2011.  Edison can not promise that there will be extra books so please place an order to be sure to get one.  Checks should be made payable to Edison Middle School. 


  • 8th graders we need a baby picture: Please bring in a baby picture(s) in an envelope with your name on it.  If you could put your name on the back of each picture that would be fantastic.  The pictures will be used for a display.  You WILL GET your picture(s) back on the day of promotion.  Give your picture(s) to Mr. Guzman or Ms. Borchardt.

May 9-31 Elementary and Middle School registration for 1st -8th

Remember even if you have already registered this needs to be updated annually. Target has a similar reward program called Take Charge for Education. Simply apply for a Target charge (Red Card)/debit card, get approved, and Target donates 1% of your Red Card/Target Debit card purchases to your school.
