EDISON PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

February 1

 

·         Comets Connecting with Haiti: Edison students are collecting money for the Red Cross and the children of Haiti.   Their goal is to collect over $1760.  This number represents the number of miles it is from Champaign to Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.  Students from the Leadership Academy will be collecting money during lunch periods and updates will be posted each day.  They will also be making a paper chain to represent the miles/money collected.  Each link is a mile/dollar.

 

·         Computer Club: Computer Club will meet on today after school.

 

·         Creative Writing: Creative Writing Club will not meet tomorrow, February 2, but will meet again on February 9th, 16th, and 23rd from 2:45-4:00 p.m. in room 246.

 

·         Volleyball: The Edison girls volleyball teams played Danville South View last week. The 7th grade team won, which makes their record 5 and 2. Go Comets!

 

·         Sports Schedule:

Monday, Feb. 1     VB at Normal Kingsley, 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 2     ESPN bus tour will be stopping at Edison

Wed., Feb. 3         VB vs Jefferson, 4:15 p.m.

Sat., Feb. 6            Wrestling at Mahomet,  9:00 a.m.

·         Reflections Winners: Congratulations to Alice Trellakis and Elizabeth Atkinson.   Their PTA Reflections literature entries recently advanced to the state level.

 

·         Thank you! The PTSA would like to thank these volunteers for helping to make Edison’s Dance a success: Deb Miller, Kimberely Shaw, Nancy Mings, LB Frye, Stephanie Ritz, Mary Etchison, Dena Bagger, Steve Palmer, Melissa Supp, Anna Gerard, Alan Chalifoux, Tim Stiles, Pat Elliot, Bruce Reardanz, Dan and Caitlin Pope, and all the parents who came and stayed at the last minute.

·         Computer Speakers Needed: If you have computer speakers that you would like to donate to Edison, they would be happy to have them.  You may drop speakers off in the main office or computer lab in 232.

 

·         Be a Mentor at Edison: January is National Mentoring Month. It’s a great time to be a mentor for a student at Edison. There is currently a waiting list of students who would like to have a mentor. Please see the attached flyer to learn more or email Marilyn Mastny, Edison’s Mentor Site Coordinator, at mastnyma@champaignschools.org for an application. Also, special thanks to the 60 mentors who volunteer with our students!
