EDISON PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS
September 4
· Math Lab Starts Next Week: 8th Grade Math Lab will be starting next week. Tuesdays it will be run by Mrs. Ray in room 312 and Thursdays it will be run by Mr. Ramirez in room 320. Students are welcome to come and get help from their math teacher or simply do their homework. Math Lab goes from 2:45 to 3:45 and is free to all students. Please arrange for transportation home from Math Lab. Students are free to leave whenever they are done or whenever their parents arranged for them to leave. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s 8th grade math teacher.
· Meet the Teachers Night (Open House): Mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m. to come and "walk in your child's shoes" at Edison. We will start in the auditorium promptly at 6:30 p.m. and then be released to follow your child's schedule in order to meet his/her teachers. The PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) will serve refreshments in the cafeteria during the "lunch period", and will take orders for PE Clothing and Edison Spirit Wear as well. Be sure to come! It's a fun time!
· PTSA Meeting: The first Edison PTSA meeting will be Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m. (follow signs to the room). All are welcome to come and meet the Principal and learn more about what is happening at Edison. We'll have an informal gathering time at 6:45 p.m. with refreshments.
· Baseball Scores: Edison’s Baseball teams have had a busy schedule this week (see below). The current Varsity record is 5 wins and 4 losses. Here’s a summary:

· L vs Heyworth 2-9

· Thanks: Thank you to Emily Engelbrecht-Wiggin’s family for donating 7 sets of headphones for the computer lab! Edison will put them to good use!
Monday, August 31
· Donations of Headphones or Computer Speakers: If you are getting rid of headphones or computers speakers, Edison would gladly take donations of either one. Items can be dropped off in the main office with Mrs. Jacob’s name on them and your name also. Thanks!
· More on Box Tops: We mentioned last week that Meijer is having a great promotion on Box Tops through September 2. The announcement said that the Edison band collects them, but you should also know that Edison homeroom teachers collect Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels and use the money for classrooms. Students who are not in band can drop off Box Tops and labels with their homeroom teacher.
· Edison Cross Country: Congratulations to the Edison cross country team, coaches and volunteers for a great race on Saturday at Robeson Park. Everyone gave a great effort! The next meet is Friday, September 4 in Chrisman.
· Edison Baseball: Edison’s JV and Varsity baseball teams are busy this week. On Monday, they play at Normal Parkside; on Tuesday Varsity plays Judah at Zahnd at 4:00 p.m. and JV plays St. Matt’s at St. Matt’s at 4:00 p.m.; on Wednesday Varsity plays at Unity at 4:00 p.m. and JV plays Franklin at Zahnd at 4:15 p.m.; on Thursday, Varsity and JV play Jefferson at Zahnd at 4:00 p.m. ; on Friday, Varsity plays Jefferson at St. Matt’s at 2:00 p.m. and JV plays St. Matt’s at St. Matt’s at 6 p.m.; On Saturday JV plays Jefferson at 10:00 a.m. and Varsity plays St. Matt’s at 6 p.m. Both games are at St. Matt’s.
