Monday, August 31

 

 

·         Donations of Headphones or Computer Speakers: If you are getting rid of headphones or computers speakers, Edison would gladly take donations of either one.  Items can be dropped off in the main office with Mrs. Jacob’s name on them and your name also.  Thanks!

 

·         More on Box Tops:  We mentioned last week that Meijer is having a great promotion on Box Tops through September 2. The announcement said that the Edison band collects them, but you should also know that Edison homeroom teachers collect Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels and use the money for classrooms.  Students who are not in band can drop off Box Tops and labels with their homeroom teacher.

 

·         Edison Cross Country: Congratulations to the Edison cross country team, coaches and volunteers for a great race on Saturday at Robeson Park. Everyone gave a great effort! The next meet is Friday, September 4 in Chrisman.

 

·         Edison Baseball: Edison’s JV and Varsity baseball teams are busy this week. On Monday, they play at Normal Parkside; on Tuesday Varsity plays Judah at Zahnd at 4:00 p.m. and JV plays St. Matt’s at St. Matt’s at 4:00 p.m.; on Wednesday Varsity plays at Unity at 4:00 p.m. and JV plays Franklin at Zahnd at 4:15 p.m.; on Thursday,  Varsity and JV play Jefferson at Zahnd at 4:00 p.m. ; on Friday, Varsity plays Jefferson at St. Matt’s at 2:00 p.m. and  JV plays St. Matt’s at St. Matt’s at 6 p.m.;  On Saturday  JV plays  Jefferson at 10:00 a.m. and Varsity plays St. Matt’s at 6 p.m. Both games are at St. Matt’s

 

·         Girl's Basketball Tryouts: Monday, Aug. 31: 8th grade 3:00 until 4:30 in the north gym and 6th and 7th grade 4:30 until 6:00 PM in north gym; Tuesday, Sept. 1: 8th grade 3:00 until 4:30 in the north gym and 6th and 7th grade 4:30 until 6:00 PM in north gym; Wednesday, Sept. 2: 8th grade 3:00 until 4:30 in the north gym and 6th and 7th grade 4:30 until 6:00 PM in north gym; Thursday, Sept. 3:Selected team will be posted after school outside room 122; Parent meeting for the selected team will be at 5:30 PM in the school cafeteria

Friday, August 28

 

·         Student Council: Edison’s Student Council will have its first meeting on Wednesday, Sept 2^nd.  They will meet in Room 234, Mrs. Altenbaumer’s room, from 2:45-3:30.  All students are invited to join.  The Student Council would like to have good representation from all grades and homerooms. 

 

·         Request for Hand Sanitizer:  In an effort to keep everyone healthy this year, Edison school officials would like to have bottles of hand sanitizer placed throughout the building. 3.  WRITTEN PROOF OF INSURANCE

·         Box Tops for Band:  Meijer is hosting a promotion on Box Tops starting today, 8/23 through 9/2. If you buy any 8 Box Top Products in a single visit, you will receive 50 bonus Box Tops ($5) at the checkout.  If you buy any 12 participating products you will receive 100 bonus Box Tops ($10) as a coupon at the checkout.  A copy of the participating products is attached.  These coupons can be turned in with regular Box Tops in the big Box Top box in the band room. 

 

·         Edison PTSA Needs You: Consider getting involved with the Edison PTSA!  You'll be more informed with the events, programs, and happenings at our school.  We meet once each month at the school, usually in the Edison library. Our next meeting is Tuesday, September 8 at 7 p.m. Come at 6:45 p.m. for refreshments and to get acquainted.

·         Welcome Back!

 

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends:

 

The 2009-2010 school year has begun and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all returning and new members of our Edison family.  It’s been a pleasure serving you for the past year, and I look forward to the ongoing development of programs that support our students’ academic, social, and emotional development in a safe, secure, and innovative environment.  Our faculty and staff are committed to serving the community, and it’s wonderful to know we have your support. 

 

I would like to congratulate the members of our faculty and staff who have welcomed beautiful babies to their families.  I would also like to welcome our new faculty and staff members.  Also new to Edison is an updated school logo, which will be unveiled during our second convocation day. Students love the new look and appear to be enthusiastic to start another successful year. As always, we invite you to visit our campus, and to share your ideas for enhancing the middle school experience of all Edison Comets!

Greetings to our wonderful Edison Middle School family of parents/guardians and students.  It is with a sincere welcome back, that I extend to each and every one of you!  I am so looking forward to getting to know our incoming sixth graders, challenging our 7^th graders to bigger and better things  and to our Eighth graders, I will be counting on  their support to be the best leaders of our building that they can be!  Once again, welcome back and my door is always open!
