- Safety Alert: Attached is a letter from Interim Superintendent Malito regarding student safety.
- CU Scholars: CUScholars Program prepares high school students for their futures. Orientation and recruitment meetings for high school freshmen will be held on October 2 and 3. - 5K Run: St Thomas School in Philo is hosting a 5k run. See below in Community Events for more info.

- Comcast: Comcast has a program (for those who qualify) which gives families an opportunity to purchase Internet services at a reduced rate. Attached is a flyer that gives more info (there is also a Spanish version of the flyer).
- Important Dates: Attached is the list of important dates throughout the year, the list includes PTSA meeting dates, school dances, and parent/teacher conferences etc.,.
- Teacher Lunch: We are still in need of entrees and salads for the teacher lunch this Thursday. Donations can be dropped off in the lounge on the morning of the 29th. Please e-mail Lynnette Dodds at lynnette24@sbcglobal.net if you are able to help.
- Central Volleyball: Central Volleyball's "Bleed Maroon" night at home against Normal West, is this Thursday, Sept. 29. Game times are as follows: Freshman 5:00, JV 6:00, and Varsity 7:00. All students get in free if they wear maroon! There will be a raffle for prizes beginning at 7:00. (Flyer attached)

When: Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011
Where: St. Thomas School (311 East Madison in Philo)
Time: Kids 1K race begins at 8 am with 5K and 1K walk immediately
following (about 8:15 am) Registration begins at 7 am
Why: Honor John Schumacher, lifelong supporter of St. Thomas and Tiger
athletics! He coached track for 39 years, cross country for 23 years,
girls and boys basketball for 38 years and was Athletic Director
for 25 years (this is how I met John). All proceeds will go towards
new athletic uniforms at St. Thomas.
Cost: Prior to Oct. 28: $20 for adults, $15 for kids 10 and under
After Oct. 28: $25 for adults, $20 for kids 10 and under Tshirts are included if you register prior to Oct. 28 (not a guarantee after Oct. 28) you can print a registration form from: www.stthomasphilo.org and click on the lind for Schumacher Shuffle. At County Market You can sign up for OR register your current County Market Max Card for Education to Edison Middle School, the number is #331. Remember even if you have already registered this needs to be updated annually. Target has a similar reward program called Take Charge for Education. Simply apply for a Target charge (Red Card)/debit card, get approved, and Target donates 1% of your Red Card/Target Debit card purchases to your school.
