December 21

 

• Happy Holidays: On behalf of the PTSA and all of the Edison teachers and staff we wish you a very happy and healthy holiday season! Winter break is from December 24–January 7^th. Students will return to school on January 8^th.

 

• BIG THANK YOU: Big Thank you to all the parents/volunteers who donated cookies for our teachers. We had more than enough for teachers and staff. Big thank you to all who made that happen. 

 

December 17

 

• Central Trivia Night: The annual CHS Music Booster's Trivia Night is coming up on Saturday, January 19. Attached is a copy of the event flier.

 

• School Dance:  Edison's next all school dance will be January 11^th from 6-8pm. We need volunteers to help with concessions and chaperone. Please e-mail apatton2@gmail.com if you are able to help.

• Flu Season: Because we are in the middle of flu season, attached is some info about symptoms, when to send your student(s) back to school, and prevention.

• Food Services: On January 11th the ethnic meal is Hummus and Naan (Flatbread)

December 17

 

• Cookies: We need more cookie donations! We are putting together 100 cookie boxes for Teacher Appreciation. We are asking for cookies to be dropped off the morning of Thursday, December 20^th. Please e-mail cosette.fulk@sjcnc.org if you are able to donate cookies.

 

 

• Early Dismissal: December 20^th and 21^st, Thursday and Friday students will be dismissed early. Students will be dismissed at 2:10pm.

 

• Holiday Concert: Thursday, December 20 is the strings holiday concert! Come out and support the string students in a fun filled night full of music. The performance is FREE and will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Edison Auditorium. It will conclude around 7:40 (with a little bit of audience participation!). Cookies and juice will be served in the lobby following the performance. Hope to see you there!

• Choir: Choir members – there is no rehearsal tomorrow after school but we have a MANDATORY district rehearsal (with Jefferson and Franklin) from 6:00-7:30 pm at Edison on Tuesday, December 18^th.  This is our only rehearsal before our district concert on Wednesday, December 19^th at 7:00pm. Call time is 5:45 pm.  Please wear red, black, or grey.  No jeans, please. There will be a parent/student meeting for anyone interested in auditioning for the musical immediately following the concert on Wednesday night.  We will discuss audition procedures and materials.  If you cannot make this meeting, we will have another one after school on Thursday, the 20^th at 2:15 pm.

• Teacher Appreciation: For December Teacher Appreciation we are doing a cookie exchange for our teachers. We are asking parents to donate cookies (store bought or homemade it doesn't matter) Please drop off cookies on Thursday, December 20^th in the morning or have your student drop them off. Please e-mail cosette.fulk@sjcnc.org if you are able to donate cookies for our teachers.

There will be an informational meeting in the next couple weeks to announce what musical we've chosen and the audition material.  Don't forget to sign up!

• Perfect Attendance Contest: Edison students will have a chance to win a Kindle Fire by having perfect attendance. See attached flyer for more info

• Jazz Concert: You're Invited to Edison Middle School's Annual Winter Jazz Concert Thursday December 13^th Featuring Jazz Band 3, Jazz Band 2, Jazz Band 1 at 7:00pm in the Edison Middle School Auditorium. Free Admission! Jazz Band 1 will be performing with guest artists: Tenor Saxophonist, Mark Colby (www.markcolby.com); Trumpeter, Mark Cornell; Drummer, Jon Ustin. Come out and enjoy this incredible night of live jazz music!

• PTSA Meeting: Edison's next PTSA meeting is Tuesday, December 11^th at 7pm in the Edison library. All are welcome to attend.

 

• Teacher Appreciation: This month's teacher appreciation will be cookies! We are asking parents to donate cookies (homemade or store bought doesn't matter) on Thursday, December 20^th. Drop off cookies in the morning or send them to the front office with your student. E-mail cosette.fulk@sjcnc.org if you are able to donate cookies for teachers.

• Madrigal Dinner: Champaign Central High School will host its 32nd Annual Madrigal Dinner on Saturday December 8 and Sunday December 9 at 5:00 pm. Please join us for an evening of festive music, dinner, wassail, boar's heads, jesters, kings and queens, and lords and ladies, and other trappings of pre-enlightenment Europe.Tickets are $20 per adult, $10 per child 12 and under, and must be reserved by Wednesday, December 5th for dinners.
