Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

 

 

 

November 1

 

  • Snack Donations Needed: Edison's no DR Party (discipline referral) is on Friday November 2nd. We are asking parents to drop off a snack to the front office for students to enjoy during the party. Suggested items: chips, cookies, crackers, etc.,


  • Book Fair Thank You: THANK YOU all so much for attending Edison's Fall Book Fair. The teachers all appreciate your donations of books to their classrooms and the library will be able to purchase many new books for the library. Your support of the book fair makes it possible to offer many more popular books for students to check out from our library than we would otherwise be able to offer.

 

 

October 30

 

  • Calendars: If you ordered a calendar of events at registration or after we have your calendar in the front office for pick up. Parents you or your student can pick them up during school hours.

 

  • Edison Middle School Strings Fall Concert will take place THIS Thursday, November 1 in the Edison Auditorium. The concert will begin at 7 pm, with a cookie reception to follow. Hope to see you there!


  • BIG THANK YOU: Big thanks to all parents who donated food items for Teacher Appreciation dinner during parent teacher conferences. We have a great group of parents and volunteers so thank you for all that you do to make events like this happen.

 

October 29


  • Foreign Language Club: Foreign Language Club will be celebrating three holidays in one: Day of the Dead, Halloween and Toussaint. Celebrations start at 2:45-3:45PM on Wednesday the 31st of October in room 140. All students who enjoy learning about other cultures are welcome. We need more donations of food and drinks to help with this celebration. We also need a speaking volunteer. If you have any fun or culturally informative stories about how you have celebrated or do celebrate these holidays please come in and share them.   • South Side Tutor Program: South Side Elementary School needs tutors for an after-school tutor program.  If your child is an honors students getting A's or B's, they are eligible to tutor.  Training for the student tutors will be October 29-November 1 at South Side (must attend one), and the program will begin November 5th.  Please see the attached form for more information.  Students must also complete a volunteer application, which is also attached.  Please contact Lynnette Dodds, doddsly@champaignschools.org, or Michelle Greerar, greearmi@champaignschools.org, if you have any questions.

  • Futures Conference: Attention Parents & Community Members! Please join us for the Champaign Schools Futures Conference will be held on Thursday, November 1 from 1-5 p.m. at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham. See attached flyer for more info.

 

  • Reflections Program/Competition: This year's theme is the Magic of a Moment. All students are encouraged to submit one or more entries of the six categories: dance, film, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. Attached is the student entry form. Students will submit their entries to Karen Eastoneastonka@champaignschools.org

 

  • CUSF ADULT Extreme Spelling Bee: On November 3, 2012, the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation will hold the first annual Adult Team Extreme Spelling Bee Tournament at 6:30 p.m. at the Champaign Country Club, 1211 S. Prospect Avenue.  Distinguished judges will preside over a diabolical selection of words while teams of three compete in 5-team swarms, all vying for the opportunity to compete in the championship buzz off.  Attached is the registration form.


  • 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Family Feast and Movie Night: Edison is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and a movie on Friday, November 16th from 6–8pm. This is for ALL Edison families–everyone is welcome to attend. Please RSVP by November 2nd. See attached flier for more info and to RSVP. Donations accepted but not required.
