Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.
The Edison Choir will begin rehearsals today (Tuesday, Sept. 2) after school. Anyone is welcome, and we meet in the Rm. 110 from 2:50 - 4:00 pm on Tuesdays and until 4:30 on Thursdays. Come out to enjoy singing together and bring a friend!
Student Council will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, Sept 3rd. We will meet in Mrs. Altenbaumer's room, 234 from 2:50-3:15. All students are welcome to join. You do not need to run for elections unless you would like to run for an office position such as President, Vice president or Secretary. If you cannot make it to this Wed. meeting, come talk to Mrs. Altenbaumer or Mr. Freeman, our two Co-Sponsors. Come make a difference in your school.
ACT Aspire Tests: As partners in your child's education, it is important to ensure that they are prepared for each step along their educational journey. One way to determine student preparedness is through assessment, and therefore we will be administering ACT Aspire to your student in mid-September.
ACT Aspire will give us important information that will allow us to determine how your child is
progressing at their current grade level, as well as along their overall path toward future college
and career readiness. The tests will tell us which important skills, abilities, and knowledge your student has now, and which ones still need to be learned in order to be successful in school in the future. ACT Aspire will help your child's teacher understand where your child is succeeding, as well as where extra help or academic focus is needed. ACT Aspire will also provide specific
suggestions for improving skills.

School Dance: The fall dance will be Friday, September 12, 6-8 pm in the Edison gym. Admission is $2.00 and concessions will be for sale in the cafeteria. Volunteers are needed as gym chaperones, hallway monitors, and concessions-sellers. Mark your calendars: the first Edison PTSA meeting will be Monday September 15 at 6 pm in the Edison Library. We'll vote on the budget and make plans for the school year. You'll have an opportunity to pay PTSA dues, purchase an Edison car magnet, and ask all those burning school-related questions. Region Choir Auditions: Any 7th and 8th graders interested in region choir auditions should see Mrs. Peachey this week for information and music. Come out and sing some fun music with other singers in your district. Auditions are Monday, Oct. 13th in Bloomington.
ACDA Honor Choir: Any 6th grader interested in the Illinois ACDA Honor Choir in Naperville on Oct. 25th should see Mrs. Peachey in Rm. 110 for information. This is a great chance to sing with students from the greater Chicago area and all over Illinois.
County Market Max Dollars for Education: if you're a County Market shopper and wish to designate Edison as your Max card school, sign up at www.myCountyMarket.com or at the customer service desk at any store. Our school code is 14088.
Physical and Dental forms: Remember to turn in your student's physical form and dental form to the school office. Physicals are due no later than October 15th or the student will not be able to attend school.
