April 18
- Principal David Leaving: Principal David will not be returning to Edison Middle School next year. Attached is her goodbye letter. Thank you for your service Mrs. David, you will be missed!
- 8th Grade Graduation: Will be on May 27th (time is yet to be determined) Mark it on your calendars. We will provide more info as it becomes available.
- Jr. National Honor Society: Attached is a list of all the Edison students who made it into the Jr. National Honor Society for 2011-2012. Congrats to all these students!
- Athletics:
1. Any current 6th or 7th grade student who is interested in participating in XC, Baseball, Basketball, Wrestling and/or volleyball will need to pick up the following three forms:
a. Champaign Unit 4 form
b. IESA physical form (you take this form to the doctor)
c. 2011 – 2012 flier which lists all the deadlines for physicals
The forms can be found on the athletic bulletin board outside room 122 All forms are attached
2. If you are interested in participating in the IESA Golf state tournament please see Ms. Borchardt for the information. You must be registered by Aug. 22 and have a current physical on file to participate. If you love to golf this is an excellent opportunity to play one of the best courses in Chicago.
3. If you are interested in trying out for Central Cheerleading there is an informational meeting on Wed., April 20 at 3:45 pm in the Library Lecture Hall at Central. If you are interested please see Ms. Borchardt.
4. Summer opportunities:
a. Edison will be hosting a basketball camp for current 6th and 7th grade boys. Stay tuned for dates, times and cost.
b. On the athletic bulletin board outside room 122 fliers for Girls fast pitch, Centennial volleyball camp, and Summer Sports through the park district which include fast pitch, basketball, fencing, Lacrosse. British soccer and bowling Can be found on the athletic bulletin board outside room 122
Dyslexia Presentation: Attached is a flyer for a presentation by Susan Barton, dyslexia expert. The presentation will be on May 19 at Faith Methodist Church, and seats may be reserved at the website listed on the flyer.

- Thank You: To all the parents who volunteered their time for the school dance. We appreciate every one who volunteered their time to make the event a success!
- Athletic Banquet: Attached is info about the upcoming athletic banquet
- Foreign Language Club: Every Friday in April, the Edison Foreign Language Club will be holding a bake sale during all three lunches. All items will be 25 cents or 50 cents. Remember to bring your money! We are trying to raise money for a charity in Guatemala.
- Community Events:
April 11-29 All remaining 5th grade students register for 6th grade
May 9-31 Elementary and Middle School registration for 1st -8th
graders wishing to transfer

At County Market You can sign up for OR register your current County Market Max Card for Education to Edison Middle School, the number is #331. Remember even if you have already registered this needs to be updated annually. Target has a similar reward program called Take Charge for Education. Simply apply for a Target charge (Red Card)/debit card, get approved, and Target donates 1% of your Red Card/Target Debit card purchases to your school.
