·         Please Sign Out Your Student: Edison students must be signed out by a parent or responsible party in the main office any time they leave the building. The school is responsible for knowing where students are at all times. With cell phones, students are texting parents to say that they are ill. On several occasions, parents have asked the student to come outside without signing out the student. In these cases, students are being marked unexcused for classes. It is imperative that you sign out your student if they leave the campus.

·         Auditions for Spring Musical: Edison's Spring Musical will be Annie Jr. and take place the last weekend in April.  Auditions will take place next week after school on January 25, 28, and 29 and students can sign up for an audition slot outside the music room (110) on the musical bulletin board.  Rehearsals will be after school and start the week of February 15th.  Auditions will consist of students singing a short song of the student's choice (they can either bring sheet music or sing something without accompaniment) and an unprepared reading from the show.  Please contact the director, Mrs. Bahr, if you have any questions at bahrmi@champaignschools.org.

·         Reminder- Traffic Pattern for Edison: Parents using the Prairie Street entrance of Edison Middle School for the purpose of dropping off and/or picking up students should drop their child off on the west (left) side of Prairie.  Parents should pull their vehicles as far down on Prairie Street before they drop of and/or pick up their child.  This will allow for more vehicles to use Prairie Street in this way. Parents should refrain from using the east (right) side of Prairie adjacent to the blacktop/play area.  This area is marked for the loading/unloading of school buses and needs to be kept available. Once all school buses have arrived and departed, parents will then be directed to utilize that area for loading and unloading purposes. Parents should also refrain from using the alleyway directly west of Edison off of Prairie as a drop off/pick up site for students.  This alley will be used for the quick access and departure of emergency vehicles.

·         Boys Basketball: Congratulations to Edison’s 7th grade boy’s basketball team as they defeated Urbana on Saturday. The score was 52 – 37. The team now advances to the second round of regional games which will be held at 6 pm tonight at Charleston Middle School. The game is against Franklin.
