[Edison-PTSA] EDISON PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS–MARCH 14TH

March 14

  • Lasagna Dinner for Edison Staff: The PTSA will be providing dinner for the staff during conferences on Thursday, March 17.  We are looking for donations of the following food items to round-out the meal:12 bags of pre-washed salad mix 8 desserts drinks (soda, bottled water, lemonade or tea) Please contact Lynnette Dodds if you can help at lynnette24@sbcglobal.net Donated food/drinks can be dropped off in the teachers' lounge any time that day.  Dinner will be served from 3:30-5:30 to accommodate the staff's conference schedule.



  • PTSA Officer/Committee Nominations: April 11th the Edison PTSA will be holding nominations for officers and committee members. There are several opportunities for parents to get involved. This meeting will be held on Monday at 6pm in the auditorium before 5th grade open house. Please e mail Angie Patton at apatton2@gmail.com if you are interested in more info.


  • Congratulations: to our 7th grade volleyball team.  They won their first game today against Homer Glen Homer in 3 games then defeated Edwardsville Liberty in two games advancing to the championship game on Tues., March 15 at Bloomington Junior High School, 6:45 pm. We will be facing Rochester who has the same record as us 24 - 2. Thanks to all the teachers who came to watch the girls play today.  Admission  will be $2.00 for students (k - 8, senior citizens 62+) $5.00 for adults (high school students and adults) YES Edison hopes to be taking a fan bus. More info to follow as soon as things get organized

 

Book Fair: The Library is looking for PARENT VOLUNTEERS for the upcoming book fair March 11th-18th Volunteers are needed Thursday, March 17th 4-8 pm and Friday, March 18th 8-11am during Parent/Teacher conferences Contact us on the book fair website if you can help.   • Help Edison PTSA Raise Money!  Sign up for Fun Funds at GFS (Gordon Food Service), and then every time you shop, show them your card and earn 1% up to 10% for the Edison PTSA.  The store is located near Menards, and our Fun Funds number is 2452385.

 

  • Fundraiser: Edison is supporting Olive Garden's 17th annual Pasta for Pennies program benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Students are being encouraged to collect spare change to support the Society's mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin's disease and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.  Each homeroom is competing to collect the most money.  The winning homeroom will receive a pasta party provided by Olive Garden.  Currently, Mrs. Mckinley's homeroom is winning with Mrs. Witheft's and Mrs.  Altenbuamer's homerooms being a close second and third.  The Pasta for Pennies program ends March 16th. Student Council is organizing the event at Edison. 

 

 

  •  Yearbook Orders: It's time to order 2010-2011 Year Books if you did not already order them at registration in the summer.  The Year Books are $22.00. Orders can be brought to the Discipline Office with the order form or mailed to Edison Middle School at  306 West Green Street, Champaign, IL 61820 until March 18, 2011.  Edison can not promise that there will be extra books so please place an order to be sure to get one.  Checks should be made payable to Edison Middle School. 


  • 8th graders we need a baby picture: Please bring in a baby picture(s) in an envelope with your name on it.  If you could put your name on the back of each picture that would be fantastic.  The pictures will be used for a display.  You WILL GET your picture(s) back on the day of promotion.  Give your picture(s) to Mr. Guzman or Ms. Borchardt.

At County Market You can sign up for OR register your current County Market Max Card for Education to Edison Middle School, the number is #331. Remember even if you have already registered this needs to be updated annually. Target has a similar reward program called Take Charge for Education. Simply apply for a Target charge (Red Card)/debit card, get approved, and Target donates 1% of your Red Card/Target Debit card purchases to your school. With holiday shopping coming up this is a great and EASY way to help Edison Middle School!
