EDISON PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS
November 20
· Cross Country Pictures: If your son or daughter was on the cross country team, please have them stop by room 122 to pick up their pictures from Illini Studio.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITY
· Book Sale: Scholastic is holding a holiday book fair December 14-18 at the Holiday Inn in Urbana. See the attached flyer.
November 18
· AVID Breakfast: Edison AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students and their families are invited to join their AVID teachers, counselor, and administrators for breakfast this Friday, November 20, from 7:00-7:50 a.m. in the Edison library. This is an opportunity to celebrate the students’ first quarter successes while getting to know the members of the AVID team as well as other AVID students and families.
· Fall Chess Fest: If your child would like to participate in the Fall Chess Fest, you must turn in your entry form (attached) tomorrow, November 19, to the office at Edison. Chess Fest will be held on Sunday, November 22nd at Jefferson Middle School. Participation is free and it is open to all middle school students.
November 16
· Creative Writing Club: Creative Writing Club will meet tomorrow and on the following Tuesdays from 2:45-4:00 p.m. in room 246:
o November: 17th, 24th
o December: 1st, 8th, 15th
o January: 12th, 19th, 26th
o February: 9th, 19th, 26th
Club activities will include: a teacher-led creative writing exercise, time for writing, reading a variety of poems and stories, and a structured time for getting and giving feedback on each other’s writing. Sponsor: Mary Biddle biddlemar@champaignschools.org
