[Edison-PTSA] PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS- April 28

EDISON PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS

April 28

·         Thank You to Volunteers: The Edison PTSA would like to thank everyone who has volunteered this year for the school.  TODAY, Edison school staff will recognize volunteers at the annual Edison Volunteer Reception which will be held from 10-11 a.m. in the school cafeteria.

·         PTSA Board Meeting: The Edison PTSA Officers will be meeting this Thursday, April 29, at noon at Atlanta Bread on south Neil Street.  Everyone is welcome!  We will be discussing activities for the last month of school, including Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3-7) and end of year activities.

·         PTSA Needs a Treasurer:  The Edison PTSA is need of a Treasurer for the 2010-2011 school year.  If you have a current 6th grader, please especially consider stepping up.  Training is provided.  In addition, the current Treasurer will still be here next year to help you through it.  Contact Jennifer Clarke (jenniferandjohnc@sbcglobal.net) or Mary Schoen Petersen (schoenpetersen@comcast.net) for more info or if you’re interested.

·         We Love Our Teachers:  Next week, May 3-7 is national Teacher Appreciation week.  The PTSA would like to show our Edison Teachers how much we appreciate all that they do for our students by doing something nice for them each day next week.  We need 5 to 10 parents to split up the days and just do a little something for the teachers (Friday will be a pizza lunch).  If you need ideas for the other 4 days, we can help with that!  It would mean so much to them!  Contact Kristian Sargeant (Kristian.sargeant@sjcnc.org), Jennifer Clarke (jenniferandjohnc@sbcglobal.net), or Mary Schoen Petersen (schoenpetersen@comcast.net) to help us out.  The Teachers will thank you and so will we!

·         International Day: Edison’s International Day will be held Thursday, May 6 from noon to 2:45 p.m. If you can volunteer your time to help, please contact Angie Patton at apatton2@illinois.edu or call 766-8712. This is a fun day for the students to experience different cultures.

·         Congratulations: Edison 6th grader Ben Carlton participated in Chess Fest in Champaign on April 17 and received second place. Congratulations!
