Monday, Sept. 9

BB hosts Normal Parkside at Zahnd Park, 4:15 pm (double header)

Good luck to our varsity and JV baseball teams tonight as they host Normal Parkside at Zahnd Park. This is our last home game before regional play begins on Sept. 17. The first game begins at 4:15 pm. Admission is free so come out to see our teams play. Wednesday we face off with Franklin at Spalding Park. Franklin is the home team and the first game begins at 4:00 pm.

 

Girls Basketball players remember your clothing order is due this Wed., Sept. 11. If you have your order form and payment please take it to Ms. Borchardt by the end of the day.

Girls Basketball kicks off next week with 3 home games:

Tues., Sept. 17 vs Unity, 4:15 pm

Wed., Sept. 18 vs Urbana, 4:15 pm

Thurs., Sept. 19 vs Tuscola, 4:15 pm

 

Any young man wishing to tryout for the boys basketball teams (6^th grade team, 7^th grade team or 8^th grade team) must have the following 3 pieces of required paperwork turned in to Ms. Borchardt by 2:40 on Oct. 4.

 

1. Current physical

 

2. Completed Champaign Unit 4 form

 

3. Copy of your insurance/medical card (your parents have this)

 

 

 

 

 

Please check the newly updated lists on pink paper outside the cafeteria. If your name has YES by it then you have everything turned in. If your name has "NO" next to it you will see what pieces you are missing. If your name is not listed then you have not turned in any paperwork.

 

 

 

This list will be updated every Monday or the first day of the week if we don't have school on Monday.

 

 

 

A completed waiver form must be turned in to your coaches the day of tryouts UNLESS you have already turned one in from Baseball, XC or intramurals last year.

Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

 

September 9

 

Important Dates:

 

September 10th: (Tuesday) PTSA Meeting at 7pm in the Edison library

September 12th: (Thursday) Open House 6:30-8pm

 

Stranger Danger: Attached is a new incident regarding stranger danger.

 

PTSA Meeting: Edison's first PTSA meeting will be this Tuesday, September 10th at 7pm in the Edison Library. Everyone is welcome to attend.

 

Poms Tryout: They are September 10, 11, and the 12 in the auditorium from 4–5:30 pm

 

Clarification about Homework Club: Homework Club is Tuesdays and Thursdays and the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Homework club is from 2:45-4:00pm in room 142. 

 

Open House: Edison's Open House will be this Thursday, September 12^th from 6:30–8pm.

 

Pesticide: Attached is more info for parents about advanced notification if Edison needs to use pesticides for pest control.

Ordering Closed: Spiritwear ordering is CLOSED. Distribution will be during Open House on September 12^th.

Stranger Danger:  Attached is a PDF with information about an incident near South Side School. Please make sure to read the info and if you have any information about the incident to please contact the police at the numbers listed. Spanish version is attached too.

 

Pink Eye: Attached is a letter from the district about a confirmed case of pink eye at Edison.

 

Social Justice Committee: You are invited to be part of the Unit 4 Social Justice Committee.  This committee is a vehicle by which we can work together to systemically improve our school district's ability to support student learning through the lens of social justice.  Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings.  2013-14 committee meeting dates are August 29, September 24, October 29, December 12, January 23, February 25, April 24, and May 22.  All meetings are held from 5:00-6:30pm at the Mellon Board Room.  Please contact Dr. Laura Taylor, Assistant Superintendent for Achievement and Student Services for more information at 217.351.3702 or taylorla@champaignschools.org.           

 

Edison Band Golf Outing: The band program will be hosting a golf outing on Sunday, September 15th on the University of Illinois Blue Course beginning at 1pm.  The cost is $75 per golfer and includes greens fee, cart, lunch and prizes.  This is a fun way to spend an afternoon on the golf course and support the band at the same time!  Contact Jo Lynne Clauson at 359-8099 or joclauson@comcast.net with any questions.
