Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

- From Coach Johnson: After several years coaching the 8th grade boys basketball team, I have decided that this will be my last season coaching. I would like to thank all of the custodians, teachers, administrators, parents and players that I have been fortunate enough to have created positive working relationships with during my tenure at Edison. I have created a lot of wonderful friendships and hope that those continue in the future.
Much appreciation to the Edison FAMILY for entrusting me with their young men. I am hopeful that I played a small role in helping them be good basketball players, but an even larger role in helping them become better young people. Thank You!

- Future Facilities Dialogue Session: Champaign Unit 4 School District will host two Future Facilities Community Dialogue sessions on February 12 at the I-Hotel and Conference Center from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Community Dialogue invites all community members, students, teachers, parents, and business owners to offer their input on possible options for updating or replacing some of the District's aging school buildings. Topics of discussion will include: options for a new or renovated Central High School; options for renovation/construction at Centennial High School, the three middle schools, and South Side and Dr. Howard Elementary Schools; and alternative grade configurations. - Central Spiritwear: Central HS PTA is selling off the remainder of their spirit wear. They have hoodies, t-shirts, and sweat pants. They do not have all sizes and colors but still have a lot available. They can e-mail me at snell1985@aol.com and I can tell them what we have.

- Edison Jazz Bands: Come check out Edison's Jazz Bands as they present an Evening of Java and Jazz on Friday, February 1, beginning at 6:30 pm at the Laborer's Union Hall in Urbana. Maybe your child has a friend who plays in one of the bands, or maybe your child is interested in being a part of the Jazz Band Program next year. The ticket price of $25 includes a full dinner buffet, dessert, and a beverage. A cash bar is available as well. To order tickets talk to a Jazz Band parent or email EdisonJavaandJazz@gmail.com.
- NJHS: Applications for the Edison chapter of the National Junior Honor Society are now available on the Edison web-site and in the main office. Applications are due to Mr. Cain by March 1, 2013. Current National Junior Honor Society members do not need to complete the applications for this year, but should contact Mr. Cain about their 2012 community service hours. If there are any questions please contact Mr. Cain at cainza@champaignschools.org or 351-3771.
- Community Forums: Champaign Schools will hold informational forums to discuss the Schools of Controlled Choice registration process. The forums will also include a Showcase of Schools. This will provide an opportunity for parents and guardians to meet and talk with individual school staff members. Attached is a schedule of events.
