State Wrestling: Congratulations to Charis Washington and her son Darin. Darin, who attends Centennial High School, qualified for the State Wrestling Tournament which was held at the Assembly Hall this past weekend. Darin finished 2nd in the state for his weight class (132).  Congrats on this amazing finish.

 

Cheerleading Camp: fliers for C-U Kiwanais Little Leagues registration dates/sites and cheerleading spring break camp can be found outside the cafeteria.

The regional meet will be held on Saturday, February 23rd at 9:00 a.m.  Weigh-ins will be from 7:00-8:00 a.m. on Saturday.

 

IESA REGIONAL ADMISSION

$2.00  K-8 and Senior Citizens

$5.00  High School Students and Adults

 

BUS PARKING

Please have your bus drivers drop wrestlers at the junior high and park across the street at Lincoln Trail Elementary School in order to prevent congestion in our limited parking area.

 

CONCESSIONS

Food will be served in our cafeteria throughout the day.  We will provide a hospitality room for the coaches in our teacher's lounge.

 

SHIRTS

Shirts will be sold by the Cubby Hole for $12.

 

 

Athletics for this week:

     

Tues., Feb. 19

            Last home game for our Lady Comets Volleyball team.  We are hosting Unity, 4:15 pm

 

     Wed., Feb. 20

            Volleyball at Danville North Ridge, 4:15 pm.  Volleyball teams will need to be dismissed at 2:30 pm

 

     Thurs., Feb. 21

             Wresting individual/team pics in the south gym

 

     Sat., Feb. 23

             Wrestling regionals at Mahomet Junior High School, 9 am

              admission is $5.00 for adults

 

   Mon., Feb. 25

            7VB regional game at Jefferson against Franklin, 6 pm

                  $4.00 for adults

                  $2.00 for K - 8 students and senior citizens (62+)

 

Tues., Feb. 26

         7VB regional game if we win on Monday, 6 pm

 

Thurs., Feb. 28

       7VB regional championship game, 5 pm (if we win on Tues.)

Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

 

 

 

February 18

 

  • Request for Yearbook Photos: We are requesting for photos to be sent to Aileen Maggio so she can put some candid images in the yearbook. We need all sports and any other activities parents and kids would like to see represented.  My email is maggioai@champaignschools.org.  The deadline for pictures is March 5th.  

 

 February 15

 

  • No School Monday 2/18: No school this Monday, February 18th in observance of Presidents' Day.

 

  • Mr. Tony Howard has been selected as the Associate Principal at Edison Middle School: Mr. Howard currently holds the position of Assistant Principal of Edison Middle School. He began this position in October 2010. Mr. Howard joined Unit #4 Schools as a Science Teacher at Edison Middle School in 2006. Mr. Howard has also served Unit #4 Schools as a Summer School Principal, Summer School Teacher and Boys' Basketball Head Coach.

 

February 14

 

 

  • International Day: Edison's International Day will be March 14th, 8-11:00 a.m. Last year was a great success and we'd like to make that happen again. We need adult helpers to be in the classrooms–we need parent helpers to host an activity for that day. Please contact Ms. Pinske via email and she can give more details.   • LEAP (Linking Educators and Parents):

TOPIC: "Seeing the Sense in Spelling"

February 11

 

  • PTA Council Mental Health Forum: The next PTA Council Meeting will be February 21st at the Mellon Building at 7–8:30pm. Attached is a flyer with more info.

 

  • Box Tops: Pull those General Mills Box Tops off the refrigerator and out of that drawer, clip them up and send them in to Edison to turn them into $$.  Students can turn Box Tops in to any of their teachers, and they will be collected to send in to General Mills.  Box Tops need to be in to teachers by February 22nd to be turned into dollars for this school year.

 

  • NJHS: Applications for the Edison chapter of the National Junior Honor Society are now available on the Edison web-site and in the main office.  Applications are due to Mr. Cain by March 1, 2013.  Current National Junior Honor Society members do not need to complete the applications for this year, but should contact Mr. Cain about their 2012 community service hours.  If there are any questions please contact Mr. Cain at cainza@champaignschools.org or 351-3771.
