Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

September 12

 

• Calendar and Spirit Wear Distribution TONIGHT: Tonight the PTSA will be distributing and selling calendars. If you purchased one at registration please stop by and see the PTSA at the Open House tonight and pick it up. Same goes for Spiritwear–if you ordered spiritwear please come to the cafeteria tonight to pick up your items. There are a few calendars and spiritwear left for sale, if you haven't had a chance to purchase any yet.

 

• Mini-Bake Sale: Edison will be having a mini bake sale in the cafeteria tonight during the Open House if you want a few goodies to eat or take home.

 

• Supply Drive: PTSA is having a supply drive for teachers and students. During Edison's Open House we are asking parents/guardians to bring one item to drop off. Suggested items: Hand Sanitzer, Kleenex, #2 Pencils, Pens, and Loose Leaf Paper.

 

• Edison Golf "Fore" the Band Golf Outing: The Edison Middle School Band will host a golf outing on Sunday, September 16th at the University of Illinois golf course. Cost is $75 per golfer and includes cart and green fees, lunch, and prizes. Hole sponsors are $100 each. Shotgun start at 1pm. Come out for a fun afternoon of golf and support the band program at the same time! Contact Jo Lynne Clauson with any questions at joclauson@comcast.net.

• Picture Day: Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 4^th. Forms should be going home soon.

 

• Edison Middle School Fall Open House: Wednesday, September 12, 2012 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm Please meet in the auditorium.  After a brief introduction you will follow your child's schedule. Parents/Guardians you are invited to come and meet your child's teachers.  They will provide information regarding the curriculum and expectations for their classes. Please note that this is a time to gain general information about Edison and meet the teachers. Individual/team conferences may be scheduled at a different time by calling the school or during Parent/ Teacher Conferences in October.

• Keegan Bannon Memorial Scholarship Fund: Saturday October 20^th at Jupiters at the Crossing starting at 6pm. Edison and Central Jazz Band will be performing along with other local bands! This will be the last benefit for this important cause. The benefit will help keep the scholarship fully funded. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at Central HS. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 per couple. See attached flyer for more info

 

• CUSF ADULT Extreme Spelling Bee: On November 3, 2012, the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation will hold the first annual Adult Team Extreme Spelling Bee Tournament at 6:30 p.m. at the Champaign Country Club, 1211 S. Prospect Avenue.  Distinguished judges will preside over a diabolical selection of words while teams of three compete in 5-team swarms, all vying for the opportunity to compete in the championship buzz off.  Attached is the registration form.
