Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

Upcoming events:

For home basketball, volleyball and wrestling events all Edison students MUST have their school ID to be admitted to the event.  Admission is $1 for students and $2 for adults.  Students are expected to have a ride home 15 min. after the completion of the event.  Students are to leave school at 2:40 then return at 4 pm using door #6.  Students are to enter gym only after receiving an admission ticket.

 

Any current 6th or 7th graders interested in competing in the IESA State Golf Tournament in Sept. 2016 please contact Jackie at borchaja@champaignschools.org.

The November PBIS Incentive: there are about 450 Edison students who earned the PBIS incentive in November!! This means we need more treats; please send cookies, brownies, cupcakes to the school office on Tuesday morning by 9 am. Thanks for your help and support of PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) at Edison!  (Contact Claire Reiling at reilincl@champaignschools.org if questions)

PTSA Tissue Drive: cold and allergy season is here and Edison classrooms are woefully short on boxes of tissues, so let's restock the school!  The Tissue Drive will be Monday Nov 23 through Friday Dec 4. There will be a large collection box for each grade level in the main hallway: 6^th grade (Ms. Schoonover's office), 7^th grade (Mr. Blood's office) and 8^th grade (Ms. Lane-Rose's office). When you're shopping this weekend, please pick up a few boxes and send them to school next week. 

Spring Musical: Edison's Fine Arts department will be presenting The Lion King Jr. for the Spring Musical. More than any other show before, we are in need of parental help. This is a play full of spectacle so we need help with costumes, props, puppet making, set and many other production areas. We are asking help from any parent who might be willing to volunteer their time and talent, regardless if your child is the play or not.  If you would like to help in any way contact Lisa Richter, richterli@champaignschools.org or Jeff Dare, dareje@champaignschools.org

Scholastic Bowl: Do your students like trivia?  Do they know a lot of random facts?  If so, Scholastic Bowl is for them.  Try-outs will be Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 after school in Mr. Cain's Room (128).  Questions, please see Mr. Cain or Ms. Rotramel.  

PTSA meeting minutes from Monday are attached.   

Thanks for the Box Tops collected so far this year!  We will receive a check for $260 for the Box Tops we have collected and now it's time to start again.  Mrs. Wells is collecting them for new PE equipment. You may send them into her or give them to any teacher to put in her mailbox. Thanks for the support!!
