 May 24th

 

  • 8th Grade Graduation: 8th Grade Promotion/Recognition ceremony to be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 in the Edison auditorium, beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m.  Due to space limitations, we are providing two tickets to attend the ceremony.  Parents may pick up tickets from Mrs. Lanman in the Discipline office between 7:30 – 4:00 pm beginning Monday, May 21, 2012.  The doors will open at 8:30 a.m.  After guests with tickets have been seated, other guests will be allowed to enter.  Although it is understood that many families would like to have more than two tickets, the physical capacity of the auditorium limits our capabilities of meeting all requests.  In the event that you determine two tickets are not enough, please call 351-3889 and have your name put on a waiting list with Mrs. Lanman.  If you will not be using your tickets, please call and let Mrs. Lanman know.  If you have special needs, please contact Mrs. Lanman so arrangements can be made to meet your needs.

 

  • Thank You: A huge thank you to all the parents that provided food for the staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. You really went   above and beyond this year.  We have wonderfully generous parents at Edison and the staff wants to be sure you know how much they appreciate all your efforts.  It was a great way to wrap up the year.

 May 16

 

  • Eighth Grade Dance and 8th Grade Parents: The 8th Grade Dance at Edison Middle School is Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 7-9 p.m.  WE STILL NEED 5 MORE VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH CONCESSIONS AND MONITOR THE GYM . If you would like to volunteer, please let me know by replying to guzmanje@champaignschools.org . Volunteers should arrive at 6:40 and check in at the concession table in the cafeteria. I will have a table with nametags and duty assignments. Volunteer duties include helping with concessions, helping check in students, monitoring the front door, halls and bathroom, and watching the dance floor and gym doors (doors are left open to allow air in and out, but no one is allowed to enter or leave). If your child does not want you in the gym, let me know and I can assign you to concessions.

 Basic Information about the 8th Grade Dance:


*Only 8th Grade Edison students will be allowed

*Admission is Free

*Students must have a signed permission slip and their student ID

*No one is permitted in after 7:30 p.m.

 *Snacks and Cake are free

 *All students must remain in the building until the dance is dismissed at 9 p.m.

 

  • Edison Musical: Come see Fame Jr. The Musical at EMS Auditorium this Saturday, the 19th of May at 7:30 pm and Sunday, the 20th of May at 3:30.  Tickets are sold during lunch periods for $3.00 and at the door for $5.00.  T-shirts are also being sold for $15.00.

  • 8th Grade Six Flags Trip: This Friday May 18th is the yearly 8th grade class trip to Six Flags.  We will depart 6:30am and return around 9pm. When picking up your child, do not park on Prairie Street.  Please,  park in the back parking lot or playground.   • Boys Basketball Camp: Attached is the flier for the boys basketball camp.  Coach Johnson strongley encourages anyone interested in trying out for the 7th or 8th grade boys basketball team next year to attend the camp.  Please turn your registration form and money in to Ms. Borchardt by May 20.  Anyone registering after May 20 will not receive a camp tshirt.

May 15

 

  • 8th Grade Six Flags Trip: This Friday May 18th is the yearly 8th grade class trip to Six Flags.  We will depart 6:30am and return around 9pm. When picking up your child, do not park on Prairie Street.  Please,  park in the back parking lot or playground.   • Student Council: Student Council will meet this Wednesday, May 16th  after school in Mr. Altenbaumer's room, room 234.  We are getting ready for the 8th Grade Dance. Please come and help.  We should be finished by 3:30pm.

        Tuesday - Friday  6am until 715 am  players need to bring water, ball, cleats, running shoes and positive attitudes. Exact dates were not provided so you will need to contact Brian Easter at Centennial info about wrestling camp, swimming camp, girls gymnastics camp, softball camp, baseball camp, soccer camp, girls basketball camp, boys basketball camp and volleyball camps available at the U of I can be obtained from Ms. Borchardt in room 122.

  • Athletic Banquet:  Athletic Banquet for baseball, girls and boys basketball (including 6th grade BBB) and volleyball will be held on Thursday, May 17 from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm at Srtone Creek Church in Urbana.  Cross Country members who have the top 5 GPA's will also be invited once the top 5 GPA holders have been identified.  Ms. Borchardt will let parents know ASAP. Parents are asked to bring a side dish to be served with fried chicken, a desert and 2 liters of a drink (CHILLED)! the flier for the banquet is attached.  If you have any questions please email Ms. Borchardt (borchaja@champaignschools.org)
