Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

• BIG THANK YOU: Big thanks to all the parents who brought supplies, bought calendars, spiritwear, and bakesale items. And to all the parents who have volunteered to chaperone the school dance thanks so much–these events wouldn't be able to happen without you!!

 

• School Dance: School dance this Friday, September 14^th from 6-8pm. Permission slips will go home on Friday. Students need to bring student ID, permission slip, and $2 to get in. There will be pizza, soda, and candy for sale in the cafeteria so have your student bring some extra money for that. Once students are in the building for the dance they are not permitted to leave unless picked up by a parent/guardian.

• Edison Golf "Fore" the Band Golf Outing: The Edison Middle School Band will host a golf outing on Sunday, September 16th at the University of Illinois golf course. Cost is $75 per golfer and includes cart and green fees, lunch, and prizes. Hole sponsors are $100 each. Shotgun start at 1pm. Come out for a fun afternoon of golf and support the band program at the same time! Contact Jo Lynne Clauson with any questions at joclauson@comcast.net.

 

• Picture Day: Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 4^th. Forms should be going home soon.

 

• Keegan Bannon Memorial Scholarship Fund: Saturday October 20^th at Jupiters at the Crossing starting at 6pm. Edison and Central Jazz Band will be performing along with other local bands! This will be the last benefit for this important cause. The benefit will help keep the scholarship fully funded. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at Central HS. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 per couple. See attached flyer for more info

 

• CUSF ADULT Extreme Spelling Bee: On November 3, 2012, the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation will hold the first annual Adult Team Extreme Spelling Bee Tournament at 6:30 p.m. at the Champaign Country Club, 1211 S. Prospect Avenue.  Distinguished judges will preside over a diabolical selection of words while teams of three compete in 5-team swarms, all vying for the opportunity to compete in the championship buzz off.  Attached is the registration form.
