  • Retirement Party for Peggy Christensen: Tuesday May 24th Edison will be having a retirement party for Peggy Christensen from 3-4 pm. All are welcome to come say goodbye to this wonderful teacher!

 

  • Band: Edison's band program will be traveling to Disney World during the next school year.  Any families with incoming 6th graders who would like to learn about the band program or the trip are invited to a presentation this Thursday, May 26, at 7:00 pm at the Champaign Public Library.

 

  • Central Freshman Football:  If your 8th grader is interested in playing football at Central next year and you would like to find out information about up coming events and be put on the Central Football Boosters email distribution list, please send Jennifer Clarke your email.   jennifer.n.clarke@gmail.com

  • Congrats to Mrs.Easton!!  Mrs. Easton gave birth to a healthy and beautiful baby boy!  Samuel James Easton Born May 11 at 2:44pm 7 lbs, 0 ozs 20.5 inches long. Mama and baby are both home and doing well.


  • 8th Grade Graduation: Graduation will be on May 27th at 9am in the Edison auditorium. Due to space limitations we are providing 2 tickets to attend the ceremony. Tickets can be picked up at the Dean's office from 7:30am-4 pm. Doors will open at 8:30 am. After guests with tickets have been seated, other guests will be allowed to enter. If you will not be using your tickets, or need more than 2 please contact Mrs. Lanman to make arrangements at 351-3771.

 

  • 8th Grade Dance: Basic Information about the 8th Grade Dance

*The Dance is Thursday, May 26 from 7:00-9:00pm. Admission to the dance begins at 6:50pm. 

*Only 8th Grade Edison students will be allowed.

*Admission is Free.

*Students must have a signed permission slip and their student ID.

*No one is permitted in after 7:30 p.m.

*Snacks and Cake are free.

*All students must remain in the building until the dance is dismissed at 9 p.m.

*8th Grade Teachers and 8th Grade Parents will chaperone the dance.

*Student Council is sponsoring this event. If you have any questions, please email Mr.    Guzman or Mrs. Altenbuamer.

My name is Andrew Peralta and I help to coach Centennial Boys Soccer.  We are hoping to have all interested 8th grade (incoming freshman) boys join us for our summer workouts starting in a few weeks and we wanted to make sure that they got the information.  Below is info about the summer soccer.

We will have early morning sessions Tuesdays-Fridays. No Mondays due to Club team weekend tournaments

June 14th-17th

June 21st-24th

June 28th- July1st

July 19th-22nd

July 26th-29th

The 2 weeks in-between are Eastern Soccer Camp and July 4th week

Training will go 6am - 7:15am

 

All centennial soccer players (including incoming freshman) are highly encouraged to attend every session

Players are to bring:

Ball

Water

Running shoes

Soccer cleats

  • Poms/Cheer Summer Camp!:

Who:  Incoming 6th - 9th grade girls (from any school) may attend. (ages are flexible)

What: Learn a great dance routine, cheers, make school spirit crafts, and perform for family and friends!

Where:  Edison Middle School North Gym

When:  June 6 - 10, 9:30 am - noon

Why:  Just to have a blast, get dancing, and enjoy energizing music! (Guess what? If you're trying out for EMS Poms next fall, you'll already know the dance routine and cheer if you came to the summer camp!)

 

  • Central Golf Outing: The Central High School Golf Teams will sponsor a golf outing at the University of Illinois Blue Course on Saturday, May 28.  The cost is $65 per golfer which includes cart, green fee, lunch, prizes and beverages.  Tee times start at 8am, so call Larry Becker at 766-3532 for more information or to sign up your foursome!  The entry form is attached.

 

  • BoxTops: Before the end of the school year, please turn in any Boxtops for Education labels that you have saved. Also remember to keep collecting them over the summer so we can use them next year.

  • Retirement Party: The South Side PTA is hosting a retirement party for Mrs. Burgett and Mrs. Bell next week.  All South Side families, faculty, staff, alumni and interested community members are invited to the Retirement Party for:

To be held on May 26, 2011 from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. in the South Side Gymnasium.

  • Champaign Public Library: Tamora, Tortall & You!  Don't miss your chance to meet the one and only Tamora Pierce, best-selling author of the Song of the Lioness quartet and other popular fantasy books for teens. She'll be at the Champaign Public Library June 4 for two free programs, one at 10:30 am & 3:30pm.  Pierce will talk about her writing, sign books, and answer your questions. Registration is not required, but it guarantees you a seat and enters you in a drawing for a free book by Tamora.
