PTSA Officer/Committee Nominations: April 11th the Edison PTSA will be holding nominations for officers and committee members. There are several opportunities for parents to get involved. This meeting will be held on Monday at 5:30pm in the cafeteria before 5th grade open house. Please e-mail Angie Patton at apatton2@gmail.com if you are interested in more info.
National Volunteer Week: This week is National Volunteer Week and we at Edison celebrate all of you who volunteer here. We would like to invite you to a special event held in your honor (see attachment) in our school cafeteria from 10-10:45 on Friday, April 15. We have special permission to park in the playground for this event! I ask that you please R.S.V.P. to Marilyn Mastny at mastnyma@champaignschools.org if you are planning to attend.
Foreign Language Club: Every Friday in April, the Edison Foreign Language Club will be holding a bake sale during all three lunches. All items will be 25 cents or 50 cents. Remember to bring your money! We are trying to raise money for a charity in Guatemala.

Summer Enrichment: Just a reminder that this year's Summer Enrichment Extravaganza will take place next week Thursday, April 14, at Urbana Middle School. Please share this information with your parents and PTA/PTSA members. Attached are PDFs in English and Spanish of the Summer Enrichment Extravaganza flyer.

Concert Band: The 8th Grade Concert Band recently recorded an audition CD for the University of Illinois Superstate Competition—the most prestigious and selective Concert Band Festival in Illinois. This past week I received a letter from the University of Illinois inviting the 8th Grade Concert Band to perform at this year's festival—for the fifth consecutive time! The festival will be held on Friday May 6th at Foellinger Great Hall in the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. The group typically performs at 1:00pm and this event is free and open to the public. Our performance is only 20 minutes and all are strongly encouraged to attend this memorable performance. Congratulations to the 8th Grade Concert Band on this fantastic achievement!
Thank You: Edison teachers would like to thank the parents and students who provided us with food and goodies during parent teacher conferences! Thank you all so much! *There are a few pans and dishes left over in the teacher's lounge (from March and October). They have been cleaned and they anxiously await their owners.

Remember even if you have already registered this needs to be updated annually. Target has a similar reward program called Take Charge for Education. Simply apply for a Target charge (Red Card)/debit card, get approved, and Target donates 1% of your Red Card/Target Debit card purchases to your school.
