EDISON PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

December 14

 

·         6th, 7th and 8th grade readers: Edison's Book of the Month Club will be having its first meeting tomorrow, December 15th. The first book: Cirque du Freak #1: a Living Nightmare by Darren Shan. This is a non-mushy, not-too-scary, campy vampire book that's a good read for guys or girls. Read the book and come to Mrs. Easton's room (346) for the first meeting.

 

·         Creative Writing Club: Creative Writing Club will meet from 2:45-4:00 p.m. in room 246 on the following Tuesdays: December:  8th, 15th; January:  12th, 19th, 26th;  February:  9th, 16th, 23rd 

 

·         Computer Club: There will be no computer club today.

 

·         Candy Grams:  Candy grams are a fun way to give some joy this holiday! Students can purchase them for friends, teachers and administrators for 50 cents each during lunch this week. Candy grams are delivered on Friday. It’s a great way to support the Student Council.

 

·         Edison String Orchestra and Jazz 2/3 Concert: The Edison Middle School String Orchestra and the Jazz 2 and 3 Bands will present a holiday concert tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in the Edison Middle School Auditorium. Come celebrate the holidays and enjoy great music.

 

·         Treats for Teachers: Parents, students and volunteers, please consider showing your appreciation for the work of the Edison teachers and staff by baking cookies or other treats. PTSA needs several people to bring in 4 to 6 dozen treats (cookies, brownies, fudge, etc.) and drop them off at the school the morning of December 16th.  If you are willing to participate, please email Kristian.sargeant@sjcnc.org.

 

·         Athletic Events

Mon., Dec. 14: Boys basketball vs St. Matt’s at Edison

Wed., Dec. 16:  Boys basketball vs Chiddix at Edison

Thurs., Dec. 18: Boys basketball at Mahomet, 4:30 p.m.

 

COMMUNITY ACTIVITY

·         Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation : The Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation (CUSF) was awarded the Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation by the East Central Illinois chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals recently.  Founded twenty-one years ago to support public education in the twin cities, CUSF’s success has exceeded the organization’s original vision and it has become a major influence in the community in securing support for public schools.  CUSF has raised more than $1 million in private support thereby funding over 1,000 projects and scholarships.
