Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that

ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

For the past four years, the state of Illinois has asked all families of public school students to complete the 5 Essentials Survey. The survey will only take a few moments of your time, but has the potential to give us quality information about how our school is serving our children. Please take a few minutes to click this link: https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ to complete the survey.

Applications for the Edison chapter of the National Junior Honor Society are now available from Mr. Cain (room 128) and in the main office (and attached to this message).  Applications are due to Mr. Cain by March 4, 2016.  Current National Junior Honor Society members do not need to complete the applications for this year, but should contact Mr. Cain about their 2015-2016 community service hours.  If there are any questions please contact Mr. Cain at cainza@champaignschools.org or 351-3771.

Attention 8th grade students: The Champaign Central High School Marching Maroons will hold clinics and auditions for students interested in being part of the 2016 Drum line.  All clinics and auditions will be held at Central HS in the band room (near the corner of Park and New Streets).

Wednesdays - 3:30-5:30

4/13 - 4/20 - 4/27

5/4 (clinic & audition date)

Students will participate in a doodle survey to indicate their availability for summer rehearsals.

The drum line is only one section of our nearly 200 piece marching band. Students not placed in drum line will be encouraged to choose a different role in the marching band including pit percussion, horn line or color guard.  More information about marching band - including the full fall schedule will be made available later this spring. In the meantime, please contact Jennifer Currey with any questions you may have:curreyje@champaignschools.org.

On Saturday, March 12, Bottenfield Elementary School will host a 5K run/walk in honor and memory of Wendy Huckstadt.  Mrs. Huckstadt served in Unit 4 for 14 years.  She passes away after battling cancer. She was known to motivate students and families to live an active and healthy lifestyle. In honor of her commitment to health, this race is in her honor. To get more information, there is an attached flyer or you may register online at: www.bottenfield5k.weebly.com or Mrs. Wells has information as well.
