Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

7th Grade Girls basketball won their regional game last night. Tonight they will play in the *Championship Game* against Urbana. It should be intense, as they've played Urbana twice before in super-close games. The first game went into triple overtime, and Urbana won by 4 points. The second game, Edison won by a slim margin in the last quarter. It's going to be one heck of a championship match up. The game is in town at Jefferson at 5 pm; come support the team! Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. Just FYI: No signs or noisemakers are allowed at IESA tournament games.

No School: there will be no school the rest of this week (Wednesday through Friday).  Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday!

Food Drive: Nov 17-Dec 2, Edison will be collecting nonperishable foods for the food drive.  We are competing against other schools within the Champaign area.  To make this a little more fun, we are also having a competition between the teams; student teams will be considered based on homeroom.  Each team will have a box to place the nonperishable foods in and a canister for any monetary donations.

The Pajama Project is looking for donations of new pajamas for children in need. Edison's Cross Country team is working on the pajama project as their service project. We've asked the social studies teachers to donate their room for drop offs.  Students/parents/teachers can drop off donations of new pajamas to one of the social studies teachers at Edison Middle School. The Cross Country team will then collect donations after December 5th to take to Salt and Light. See attached flyers for more information.

Thanks for a wonderful Family Literacy Night!  What a fun time!  Dancing, singing, Socratic-ing, reading, writing, jazzing, bookmarking, gaming…it was fabulous!  It couldn't have happened without our amazing ELA staff, our volunteers, the U of I attendees, the Central basketballers, the Jazz Ensemble, the teachers that came to support, our fantastic PTSA, and of course, the kids and their families. They deserve the most cheers; they were so much fun to watch and were great participants. Check out video of the event (thank you Mr. Holden) here: https://drive.google.com/a/u4sd.org/file/d/0B9VEjhaY7ZeAdzZNRDl4NEVjak0/view?usp=sharing
