Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.
August 28
- Homework Club: Ms. Milani will be running homework club starting Tuesday, September 3rd, from 2:45-4:00pm in room 142. Homework club will meet Tuesday-Thursday and the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Students are expected to bring work to do and behavior expectations are the same as the normal classroom. This is a drop-in club and you can come as little or as much as you want. It is a great way for students to get extra help if they feel they're struggling with a subject or falling behind on homework assignments. Please be aware that students will be responsible for getting themselves home after club and will need to arrange a ride or know the bus schedule. Important Dates:
September 2nd: (Monday) NO SCHOOL–Labor Day
September 5th: (Thursday) NO SCHOOL–Fall Holiday
September 10th: (Tuesday) PTSA Meeting at 7pm in the Edison library
September 12th: (Thursday) Open House 6:30-8pm
- Dance Date Change: PTSA has rescheduled the first dance to Friday October 4th
- Poms Tryout: They are September 10, 11, and the 12 in the auditorium from 4–5:30 pm
- Photos for baseball and cross country: Parents and Students: Please send any digital pictures from baseball or cross-country to Mrs. Easton to be included in the yearbook. Send them via email to eastonka@champaignschools.org or send a disk or flash drive with your student to room 310.
- Basketball and Volleyball Donations: Edison's volunteer/mentor coordinator is looking for a couple people to donate basketballs/soccer balls/volleyballs for the students to use during their recess time. Her office is located above the cafeteria, so the students pass by me on their way out to the blacktop for lunch. These items do not need to be new, and anything you could give would be appreciated. Please e-mail doddsly@champaignschools.org if you would like to help.
- ACTIONS: attached is more info about the district's ACTIONS plan for students who are under disciplinary suspension. Wednesday August 21st the ACTIONS coordinator will be giving short talks about the program and it's goals at the Family Information Center.

- Spiritwear: Edison spiritwear will be available to order through August 30th. Please fill out attached order form and send with your student to front office. Ordering ends August 30th. Make checks out to Edison PTSA.
- Open House: Mark your calendars! Edison's fall open house will be September 12th from 6:30-8:00pm
LEAP (Linking Educators And Parents) Workshop:
TOPIC: "A Multitude of Educational Initiatives and How They Affect Our Kids"

- Public Health Offer Physicals and Immunizations: The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, in partnership with the Carle Family Medicine Residency Program, is offering school physical and Tdap vaccination clinics. Tdap is required by law for all students entering 6th and 12th grades for the 2013-14 school year. All students in need of physicals and immunizations are welcome, including kindergarten.
When: July 20, August 24, September 21, October 5 and October 12, 2013
