April 1

 

  • Honor Roll Party: We are honoring our 3rd Quarter Honor Roll students!  On Friday, April 1, we are honoring excellent grades and hard work with a celebration during Encore and/or Physical Education classes. We will have snacks, games, and entertainment. 6th grade students will have their celebration during 2nd period, 7th during 4th period, and 8th during 9th period. Students who received a 3.0 or higher, in the 3rd quarter, without getting any D's or F's, will be honored. If you would like to provide a snack for the honor celebration, you may drop it off on Friday morning to the main office.

 

 

March 29

 

  • 7th Grade Parents: Springfield permission slips and $20 are due Friday, April 1st. To get an extra copy of the permission slip and details about the trip go to www.mrseaston.com Permission slips will also be available at Parent-teacher conferences.

 


  • Foreign Language Club: Every Friday in April, the Edison Foreign Language Club will be holding a bake sale during all three lunches. All items will be 25 cents or 50 cents. Remember to bring your money! We are trying to raise money for a charity in Guatemala.  

 

 

March 25

 

  • Congratulations to our 7th grade volleyball team!  The girls took 2nd place in the state!!!

  • School Dance: Friday April 1st  6pm–8pm will be the next school dance. We need parent volunteers to help with set-up and chaperoning. This is the last dance of the year so please e-mail Sujata at <delphya@gmail.com> Parents we really need your help to make this a success!

 

  • Student Council: Student Council will meet on Wed. March 30 in room 234 from 2:45-3:30.  We have a couple of projects that we are working on, so we need everyone to continue coming to meetings if you want to be included in future activities. April meetings will be on the 13th and 27th.

 

  • Chess Fest: Do you like to play Chess?  Then join the fun on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Spring Chess Fest to be held at Jefferson.  Grades K-8 may participate, and it's FREE!  But you must return the Entry Form to the Main Office or email chessfest@gmail.com by Thursday, March 31.

 

 

  • PTSA Officer/Committee Nominations: April 11th the Edison PTSA will be holding nominations for officers and committee members. There are several opportunities for parents to get involved. This meeting will be held on Monday at 6pm in the auditorium before 5th grade open house. Please e mail Angie Patton at apatton2@gmail.com if you are interested in more info.

  • Summer Enrichment: Looking for ways to keep your child engaged this summer?  Come to the Summer Enrichment Extravaganza, a community-wide youth programming resource fair, which will take place on Thursday, April 14, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Urbana Middle School Cafetorium.  Meet program staff from more than 30 campus and community organizations that offer summer


  • Important Dates for Champaign Schools: January 26 – February 28 Magnet Schools registration for B.T. Washington STEM Academy and Garden Hills Elementary.

March 1-31 Kindergarten registration for all schools

April 11-15 Stratton & Washington 5^th grade students register for 6th

grade

April 11-29 All remaining 5^th grade students register for 6th grade

May 9-31 Elementary and Middle School registration for 1st -8th

graders wishing to transfer

At County Market You can sign up for OR register your current County Market Max Card for Education to Edison Middle School, the number is #331. Remember even if you have already registered this needs to be updated annually. Target has a similar reward program called Take Charge for Education. Simply apply for a Target charge (Red Card)/debit card, get approved, and Target donates 1% of your Red Card/Target Debit card purchases to your school. With holiday shopping coming up this is a great and EASY way to help Edison Middle School!
