8TH GRADE FIELD TRIP:
ALL 8th graders are going on a field trip to Mahomet on Tuesday, September 14th. All permission slips must be in on Monday. We cannot accept permission slips on the day of the trip. We really need parent chaperones on this trip. The permission slip has an addendum for parents to sign and return with their student.
OPEN HOUSE:
Edison's Open House will be Tuesday, September 14th beginning at
6:30 pm in the auditorium.
EARLY DISMISSAL ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 10TH:
Students will be dismissed at 11:10 am this Friday.
CORRECTION:
Parent meeting for Boys Basketball is Thursday, Oct. 21 at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria.

SCHOOL DANCE:
The date of the first Edison Dance this school year has been rescheduled to
Oct 1, 2010. Sorry for the confusion and/or inconvenience. More information will be coming as the date gets closer.

BOY'S BASKETBALL TRYOUTS:
Any boy in 6th, 7th and 8th grade interested in trying out for the 7th and 8th grade teams must have the following 3 pieces of documents turned in to Ms. Borchardt If you have any questions please email Ms. Borchardt at borchaja@champaignschools.org
1. Completed Champaign Unit 4 form (attached)
2. Current physcial (if your physical from last year is still current and you are
planning to use it please let me know so I can pull it. You will need to
complete a new unit 4 form and provide a new copy of your
insurance/medical card)
3. Copy of your insurance/medical card
Info about the 6th grade boys basketball team will be coming soon. Any 6th grade boy interested in trying out for this team must also have the same 3 pieces of documentation turned in by Oct. 1. This basketball program is ran by the Park District.
EXTRA CLOTHES:
Parents we need gently used shorts and shirts for girls. The front office likes to have an extra change of clothes for girls on hand and right now our supply is running out. Please drop off donated items to the front office.

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT:
The Champaign Police Department have received reports of vehicles approaching school-aged children they have issued a public safety alert. Please see the attached PDF to see their safety alert release.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES !!!!
The PTSA is currently looking for people to fill the following positions.
Staff Appreciation Coordinator- This committee is responsible for recognizing school employees throughout the year in some way. The PTSA normally hosts 2 dinners during the year during parent teacher confererences and also coordinates monthly recognition of Edison staff. The coordinator is encouraged to attend monthly PTSA board meetings.
PTSA Volunteer Coordinator - This position is responsible for organizing volunteers for PTSA functions such as Open House, 5th Grade Open House, and Registration. It will include writing announcements to request volunteers, calling parents to request help as needed, and scheduling volunteers for specific events. The coordinator is encouraged to attend monthly PTSA board meetings.

HOME ACCESS:
The home access system is a way of tracking student grades and attendance online. You should have received a letter at registration explaining the system that included your login and password and a second letter with login information for your student. After experiencing some problems the system is now working. If you are unable to login with the information that you were given or you did not receive this information at registration please call 217-351-3771. If your student needs help with their information they can stop in the main office or the computer lab.
