Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.
September 10
Important Dates:
September 10th: (Tuesday) PTSA Meeting at 7pm in the Edison library
September 12th: (Thursday) Open House 6:30-8pm
PTSA Meeting: Edison's first PTSA meeting will be this Tuesday, September 10th at 7pm in the Edison Library. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Open House Bake Sale: PTSA is having a bake sale during the Open House. We are asking for parents to donate a dozen (or more) cookies for the bake sale. Please e mail Gretchen Pein at pein@illinois.edu if you are able to donate cookies. Cookies should be dropped off the evening of the open house shortly before 6pm in the cafeteria.
September 9
Stranger Danger: Attached is a new incident regarding stranger danger.
Poms Tryout: They are September 10, 11, and the 12 in the auditorium from 4–5:30 pm
Clarification about Homework Club: Homework Club is Tuesdays and Thursdays and the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Homework club is from 2:45-4:00pm in room 142.
Open House: Edison's Open House will be this Thursday, September 12th from 6:30–8pm.
Pesticide: Attached is more info for parents about advanced notification if Edison needs to use pesticides for pest control.
Ordering Closed: Spiritwear ordering is CLOSED. Distribution will be during Open House on September 12th.

Stranger Danger: Attached is a PDF with information about an incident near South Side School. Please make sure to read the info and if you have any information about the incident to please contact the police at the numbers listed. Spanish version is attached too.
Pink Eye: Attached is a letter from the district about a confirmed case of pink eye at Edison.
Social Justice Committee: You are invited to be part of the Unit 4 Social Justice Committee. This committee is a vehicle by which we can work together to systemically improve our school district's ability to support student learning through the lens of social justice. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings. 2013-14 committee meeting dates are August 29, September 24, October 29, December 12, January 23, February 25, April 24, and May 22. All meetings are held from 5:00-6:30pm at the Mellon Board Room. Edison Band Golf Outing: The band program will be hosting a golf outing on Sunday, September 15th on the University of Illinois Blue Course beginning at 1pm. The cost is $75 per golfer and includes greens fee, cart, lunch and prizes. This is a fun way to spend an afternoon on the golf course and support the band at the same time!
