Important Dates Coming Up for September:

September 11^th–PTSA Meeting @ 7pm in Edison Library

September 12^th–Meet the Teacher Night from 6–7:30pm

Parent Survey: Here is a link to a survey Unit 4 has put together to collect parent feedback on the start of school. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MRZPPY5

Student Council: Student Council will be meeting next week. Everyone is welcome to join Student Council. We would like an equal representation of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. We will be discussing activites for the year, elections for student officers, and upcoming Open House. We will be Wednesday August 29th in Mrs. Altenbaumer's room, rm 234 right after school from 2:45-3:15.

Calendar of Events: Edison PTSA will be selling their calendar of events on September 12^th (during Meet the Teacher Night) This is a fundraiser for the PTSA and the calendar includes all the important dates throughout the school year. Calenars are $15. If you ordered one at school registration we will be distributing them at the PTSA table. We only have 20 left so if you want to make sure you get one e-mail apatton2@gmail.com to reserve your copy.

Edison Spirit Wear: Friday, Aug. 31st is the deadline for ordering spirit wear. This order will be added to orders taken at registration and delivered at school to your student in the next few weeks. If you miss this Friday's deadline, one more spirit wear order will be taken prior to winter break. The order form is attached. Contact Jo Lynne Clauson with any questions at joclauson@comcast.net.

PE Clothes: All students are expected to dress for PE class. Children need to wear a white shirt with the student's name on the front and short/sweatpants and gym shoes. The pants may be any athletic sweatpants/shorts appropriate for school. Jeans, cargo pants, pajama pants will not be allowed for Physical Education class. An order form for an Edison gym shirt went home with the student's on Friday. If your child would like an Edison Comet PE shirt, they can return the form and money to their PE teacher by Friday, August 31. Checks can be made to Edison Middle School. Otherwise, a plain white t-shirt with their name written on it will be acceptable. Any questions, please email Kay Wells at wellskay@champaignschools.org

Home Access Center: The online Home Access Center is up and running. Parents should have received info for login and password. The Home Access Center allows parents/guardians to check their student's grades and assignments.

Summer Reading Project: For those students who have not completed their summer reading project and need the form here is a link to print out the form http://edisoncomets.weebly.com/summer-reading-2012.html

Update on Stranger Danger: We have updated information on another student being approached. Please see the attached PDF from Superintendent Wiegand with details and who to contact if you have any info regarding any of the incidents.

Edison Golf "Fore" the Band Golf Outing: The Edison Middle School Band will host a golf outing on Sunday, September 16th at the University of Illinois golf course. Cost is $75 per golfer and includes cart and green fees, lunch, and prizes. Hole sponsors are $100 each. Shotgun start at 1pm. Poms Squad Tryouts: Edison Poms Squad Tryouts (Dance / Cheer Team) All 6th, 7th, 8th Grade Edison students are welcome to tryout.
