January 20

Band Families: For all families whose children are participating in the Edison Band trip to Walt Disney World over spring break, there is a mandatory meeting on Sunday, January 22, 2:30-4:30 pm, in the Edison auditorium. Students and chaperones going on trip are required to be there to have their picture taken, and an adult must also be present to fill out and turn in the trip paperwork and make final payment arrangements.

International Day Volunteers: Letters have gone home and we need volunteers for this event! We especially need someone who is well versed with using chopsticks and is able to show others how to use them too. There are other things to volunteer/participate in too. To volunteer. January 19

Edison Band: Edison Jazz Band is inviting you to a night of JAVA and JAZZ. Come out Friday, Februrary 3^rd at the Laborers Union Hall in Urbana at 6:30 pm. See attached flyer for more info.

NAAPID: National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) will be February 13 from 9a-12pm. See attached letter for more info.

January 18

Principals are coming to Edison: Edison's PTSA have invited the principals of both Centennial and Central High School to talk to parents about 8^th graders making the adjustment to high school. Parents of 8^th grade students are strongly encouraged to attend. The meeting will be Tuesday, January 31st in the Edison Library at 7pm.

Reminder: Reminder that Edison's Honor Roll party for students who were on Honor Roll for 2^nd quarter is this Friday. We are asking parents to donate bulk food items (no drinks). The items do not have to be individually wrapped. Donations can be dropped off on Friday, January 20^th. This party is to reward students for their hard work. We appreciate anything you are able to give!

International Day: Edison is excited to announce there will be an International Day on March 15^th from 8am-11am. Edison is a very diverse school and wants to celebrate different cultures from around the world. This is a great event for the school and we hope students can donate items and participate in this special event. See attached letter for more info. 8^th Grade Parents below are important announcements for you!

High School Registration: Parents should have received a letter from the district regarding high school registration. High School counselors will be at Edison February 7^th. Edison's counselor will give course books to students soon to help them select their courses for 9^th grade.

Career Crusing: 8^th graders at Edison participate in a computer program called Career Cruising. This program allows students to explore their interests and helps them figure out what career they might be best suited for.
