EDISON PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS
November 16
· Cross Country: Cross country athletes will be recognized tonight at their banquet that starts at 5:30 p.m. at Stone Creek Church in Urbana. Please remember that families of 6th graders should bring salads/side dishes , 7th graders bring desserts, and 8th graders bring drinks. All uniforms need to be turned in at the banquet.
· Creative Writing Club: Creative Writing Club will meet tomorrow and on the following Tuesdays from 2:45-4:00 p.m. in room 246:
o November: 17th, 24th
o December: 1st, 8th, 15th
o January: 12th, 19th, 26th
o February: 9th, 19th, 26th
Club activities will include: a teacher-led creative writing exercise, time for writing, reading a variety of poems and stories, and a structured time for getting and giving feedback on each other’s writing. Sponsor: Mary Biddle biddlemar@champaignschools.org
· Athletic Calendar:
· November 16: Boys basketball at Heyworth at 6 p.m.
· November 17: Girls basketball at Edison versus Chiddix. Game time is 4:15 p.m.
· November 18: Girls basketball at Bloomington. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
· November 19: Last home game for the girls basketball team. They play South View at 4:15 p.m. Come cheer them on!
November 13
· Student Council Meeting: Student Council will meet Wednesday, November 18 from 2:45-3:30 p.m. in Mrs. Altenbaumer’s room, 234.
· Fall Chess Fest: All Middle School children are invited to participate in the Fall Chess Fest to be held on Sunday, November 22nd at Jefferson Middle School. Check in time is noon and games will begin at 12:30 p.m. Participation is free. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Turn in entry forms to the office at Edison by Thursday, November 19.
· Computer Club Update: Computer Club will NOT meet this coming Monday but will meet Monday, November 23 and December 7. Students will learn about eToys from guest teacher, Kathleen Harness. Put those dates on your calendar! Bring a friend to the club - new members are always welcome.
· WILL Youth Media: WILL Youth Media students need to turn in permission slips to Mrs. Bahr or Mrs. Jacob for the fieldtrip on November 25.

· Upcoming Event for Parents: The Center for Education in Small Urban Communities will hold “Pathways to Success” on Monday, November 16, from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Champaign Public Library in Rooms A&B of the Robeson Pavilion. · Free Math Seminar for Parents: Sylvan’s “Forgotten Math” seminar for parents will be held Tuesday, November 17th at 6:30 p.m. You must register for this free event. · Reflections Winners: Congratulations to the following Edison students whose Literature Entries have been chosen to move on to the Council Level in the PTSA Reflections Contest: Katelyn Mitchell, Michael Risinger, Cameron Edwards, Emma Atkinson, Alice Trellakis and Michael Yoo.
· PTSA Membership Card: If you paid for membership in PTSA but did not get your card, you can pick one up at the January 12 PTSA meeting or by contacting Mary Schoen Petersen, schoenpetersen@comcast.net.
