    Track meet at St. Joe, 4 pm 

         eligible track members to be dismissed from class at 2:30 pm

 

     Scholastic Bowl at Next Generation, 4 pm

 

Thurs., April 7

    Track meet at Bloomington, 4:15 pm 

      eligible track members to be dismissed from class at 2:30 pm

 

    Scholastic Bowl at Franklin, 3:30 pm

    Track meet at Monticello, 4:30 pm (NO EARLY OUT)

 

Tues., April 19

     Track meet at Rantoul, 4:15 pm

        eligible track members to be dismissed from class at 2:30 pm

 

Thurs., April  21

    Track meet at North Ridge, 4:15 pm

        eligible track members to be dismissed from class at 2:15 pm

 

    Scholastic Bowl versus St.Joe, 4 pm

 

    Open House for incoming 6th graders, 6:30 unti 8:30 pm

     Track meet at Urbana, 10 am

 

Tues. April 26

     Home Track Meet at Centennial Track, 4 pm (we need 20 volunteers)

           eligible track members to be dismissed from class at 2:30 pm

 

Wed., April 27

     Scholastic Bowl regionals (location and time to be determined)

 

Thurs., Apil 28

      Track meet at Bloomington, 4:30 pm

               eligible track members to be dismissed from class at 2:30 pm

 

 

Boys basketball camp is tentatively set for Monday, May 9 through Thursday, May 12. The incoming 7th and 8th grade boys will have camp from 3 until 5 pm while incoming 6th graders will have camp from 5:15 until 6:30 pm. Registration fee will be $30.  More info will be available shortly.

 

Track:  we are hosting our first ever track meet on Tues., Apri 26.  We will need 20 volunteers in order to make this meet run smoothly.  If you would like to volunteer to help out please let me know - Jackie (377 - 8584 or borchaja@champaignschools.org)

GOLF:  any current 6th or 7th grader interested in participating in the IESA golf tournament in Sept., 2016 please contact Ms. Borchardt by Feb 29, 2016.

Mark Your Calendars: 8th grade promotion will be held on Monday, May 23 at 9:00 am. More information regarding tickets will be given at a later date. 

Drop-off reminder: Remember that cell phone use in a school zone is against the law.  Please do not park your car on Prairie Street during drop-off time and check your mail.  When you do this you make drop-off unsafe for our children because everyone else must drive around you.

Band Patrons Meeting will be Monday April 4, 7 pm in the band room.  

Girl Radio, Inc! Camp: Girl Radio is a youth-led media project where girls between the ages of 9 and 13 years old are given the training and tools to carry out their own community radio show, covering topics and issues related to their own lives in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois and to their experiences as girls--covering topics from body image to self-esteem and what it means to be a girl. The girls will receive training in radio and media production, citizen journalism, sound byte creation, and interviewing over the course of the two-day camp. Recordings will be developed into episodes of a radio show.

The radio program will air weekly on WRFU 104.5, a low-power radio station that serves Champaign County based in the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center. The program will also be available for online streaming through Soundcloud online and available for download on iTunes.   Register here!

The cost of the camp is $50, but sliding scale rates apply. Low-income cost is $30 and families self-identify as low-income if they are in need. Sibling rates also apply and are detailed in our registration form. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Edison Book Drive:  WE NEED BOOKS! PLEASE HELP US BUILD OUR CLASSROOM LIBRARIES WITH HIGH INTEREST TEXTS!!! 5,000 BOOKS is our GOAL. Two ways to donate:

1)  Students can bring book donations to their team's AVID teacher:

          Adventurers - Mrs. Wolz

          Voyagers - Mr. Freeman

          Galaxies - Ms. Whitfield

          Constellations - Mr. Hutchison

          Explorers - Ms. McDonnell

          Navigators- Mr. Holden

2)  Bring them to parent teacher conferences! Bring a couple or a box-full to your conference and your teacher will make sure it gets to where it needs to go.

Unit 4 Facility Planning: the public is invited to attend Tier II Committee meetings of the Special Committee of Facilities.  The charge of the Tier Two Committee is to review recommendations from Tier One, and based on this information provide recommendations to the Board of Education in the following areas: location of facilities, collaborations/partnerships with other public entities in the Champaign Unit #4 District, and finance/referendum schedule.  You can find a meeting schedule and more information here http://facilityplanning.champaignschools.org/

Save the World with Engineering: middle school girls and their parents are invited to an engineering workshop on Saturday April 16, noon to 5 pm at Loomis Lab.  Details are on the attached flyer or at http://societyofwomenengineers.illinois.edu/upcoming-events
