- National Junior Honor Society: Applications for the Edison chapter of the National Junior Honor Society are now available on the see attachment or in the main office. Applications are due to Mr. Cain by March 2, 2012. If there are any questions please contact Mr. Cain at cainza@champaignschools.org or 351-3771.
January 31
- Pictures: Pictures needed for the yearbook! The school yearbook needs candid pictures from cross-country, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and wrestling. Please send digital pictures to Mrs. Easton. eastonka@champaignschools.org or drop off a picture disk in the main office. *We are asking for photos throughout the month of February!
January 30
- Hand Sanitizer: Parents it's that time of year–we need hand sanitizer donations for the classrooms. Please drop off a bottle (the larger the better) at the front office or send it to school with your student so they can drop it off.
- Attn. 8th Grade Families Sign up for Freshman classes is coming! As an 8th grader your student can get into the CUScholars program when you sign up for your Freshman classes. Your 8th grade student received a green folder with information on the program with an enrollment form inside. Your Middle School Counselor also has all the materials and your high school counselor will, too. There is no cost to you for this program. You can go to the website www.cuscholars.org to learn more or you can call: 217-398-2873 and we can get it going for you.
- Congratulations: to our wrestling team as they defeated Rochester on Sat.57-29 and in the recent Illinois Matmen IESA state rankings Trystyn Schoonover is ranked 4th (from Jefferson) in the state and Anthony Davis is ranked 6th in the state (from Edison).

- Box Tops: Please bring in boxtops you have collected. Students can turn them into their homeroom teacher.
- 7th Grade Constellations Field Trip: The 7th Grade Constellations field trip to Chicago has been set for May 8, 2012. Information and permission slips were sent home before winter break with all 7th grade Constellation students. A copy is attached. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Witheft via email. Field trip permission slip and money is due Friday, March 9th.
- School of Art and Design: The U of I Saturday Art School program is now accepting middle- and high school students for its spring term. The spring curriculum offers digital media experiences as well as opportunities to improve traditional media skills, and is taught by art education undergraduate and graduate students and faculty.Classes are held at the Art and Design Building, 408 E. Peabody Dr., Champaign, beginning Saturday, February 11, 2012. Classes will meet for eight Saturdays (9-11 a.m.) followed by an exhibition of student work from April 23-29, that concludes with an open house on April 29. The cost is $79 per student. Registration ends Friday, February 3, 2012 or until classes are filled, whichever is sooner. - Open House and Reception: Open House and Reception for the Family Information Center will be Monday February 6 from 4-6. The Family Information Center is now located at 1103 North Neil in the historic Columbia School building. See attached invite for more information. All are welcome to attend.
- 8th Grade Parents: A letter from Trevor Kampfl is attached to give you more info about High School Registration and class selection.
- 8th Grade Six Flags Trip: The 8th Grade Six Flags Trip has been set for May 18, 2012. Information and permission slips were sent home Friday with all 8th grade students. A copy is attached. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Becker or Mr. Guzman via email.
- International Day Volunteers: Letters have gone home and we need volunteers for this event! We especially need someone who is well versed with using chopsticks and is able to show others how to use them too. To volunteer. Please e-mail pinskecr@champaignschools.org if you can help.
- Edison Band: Edison Jazz Band is inviting you to a night of JAVA and JAZZ. Come out Friday, Februrary 3rd at the Laborers Union Hall in Urbana at 6:30 pm. See attached flyer for more info.
- NAAPID: National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) will be February 13 from 9a-12pm. See attached letter for more info.
- International Day: Edison is excited to announce there will be an International Day on March 15th from 8am-11am. Edison is a very diverse school and wants to celebrate different cultures from around the world. This is a great event for the school and we hope students can donate items and participate in this special event. See attached letter for more info. 8th Grade Parents below are important announcements for you!
- High School Registration: Parents should have received a letter from the district regarding high school registration. High School counselors will be at Edison February 7th . Edison's counselor will give course books to students soon to help them select their courses for 9th grade.
- Career Crusing: 8th graders at Edison participate in a computer program called Career Cruising. This program allows students to explore their interests and helps them figure out what career they might be best suited for.
