Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.
PTSA update: Our final meeting of the school year is tonight (Monday May 18) 6 pm in the Edison Library. This will be a short meeting; an agenda is attached. Minutes from our April meeting are also attached. We will vote on next year's officers (Gretchen Pein: President, Jen Carson: VP, Karyn Miller: Secretary, and Jill Daly: Treasurer) and start making plans for the next school year. We are still looking to fill these PTSA positions for 2015-2016: dance committee, spirit wear, and a VP who will take over as president in the 2016-2017 school year. These are great ways to get involved in your child's middle school experience and meet other parents! Contact Gretchen Pein at gretchenpein@gmail.com if you have questions.
Band Awards Night is tomorrow (Tuesday May 19) at 7 pm in the Edison auditorium.
Tech Club: There are only two meetings left for Tech Club. This Thursday we will be having a free choice meeting. Come and choose what you wish to work on: game development, coding, Google Map exploration, Arduino work and more. Thursday 2:45-3:45, Computer Lab 134.
Student Council will meet on Wed. May 20th to get things ready for the 8th grade Dance. Please be ready to get to work at 2:45. We will meet in Mrs. Altenbaumer's room, 234.

All 8th grade teachers, PE teachers and Ms. Borchardt have a flier you can ask for.
Important Information for 8th graders: In order for you to participate in the end of the year activities you must not receive more than one level 1 infraction, any DR's and/or be suspended beginning today until May 29. You must also have taken care of any lost class books and library books.
On Monday, May 18 8th graders will receive three permits (Hessel Park, 8th grade dance permit and permit to leave early on May 29). All three permits are due to your first hour teacher by Friday, May 22.
8th graders planning to attend the 8th grade dance must have their school ID so make sure you have your ID.

attend promotion (unless of course the parent wishes to use one of their
two tickets for the sibling).
*Each 8th grader will be given two tickets for parents/family members to use
for attendance at promotion - anyone attending promotion must have a

The 8th grade teachers went over expectations with the 8th grade class recently. Here are a few of the expectations. If you have any questions please email or call Jackie.

2. Permit to leave school early on Friday, May 29 must be turned in to Ms. Borchardt
3. Dress for the day:
· Girls: nice dress, skirt, capri's, dress pants, shorts etc. - no prom dresses. Long dresses could cause problems with the stairs since students will be going up and down stairs. 5. Doors to enter day of: door #12 on State Street (we can us the library parking lot) or door #1 inside fenced in playground. Once in the building you will be asked for your ticket.
6. Doors will be open for admittance at 8:30 am
