April 23
- Boys Basketball Camp: Attached is the flier for the boys basketball camp. Coach Johnson strongley encourages anyone interested in trying out for the 7th or 8th grade boys basketball team next year to attend the camp. Please turn your registration form and money in to Ms. Borchardt by May 20. Anyone registering after May 20 will not receive a camp tshirt.
- Girls Attending Centennial: Please contact Coach Thomas (thomassu@champaignschools.org or Ms. Borchardt) if you are interested in attending open gyms for girls basketball at Centennial starting in May.
- Cross Country (XC): Anyone interested in running Cross Country for Edison next year is encouraged to participate in the summer running dates Coach Mills has scheduled. The summer running flier is on the athletic bulletin board outside Ms. Borchardt's room (122)

Friday, July 13 - Current Physcial, Completed Champaign Unit 4 form and a copy of your
insurance/medical card are due if you are planning to run Cross Country (XC)
Monday, July 30 - Season Starts. Anyone wishing to participate on the XC team MUST
start on this date.
- 2012 - 2013 Baseball (BB) Season:
Friday, July 13 - Current Physcial, Completed Champaign Unit 4 form and a copy of your
insurance/medical card are due if you are planning to tryout for the baseball team.
Monday, July 30 - Season Starts. Anyone wishing to tryout for the baseball team MUST
be able to attend the tryout times which can begin on this date.
Actual dates/times of tryouts will be announced over the summer.

Friday, August 10 - Current Physcial, Completed Champaign Unit 4 form and a copy of your
insurance/medical card are due if you are planning to tryout for the girls basketball team.
Monday, Aug. 27 GBB season starts - Anyone wishing to tryout for the basketball team MUST
be able to attend the tryout times which can begin on this date.

April 18
- Science Olympiad: Last Saturday, April 14, the Edison Science Olympiad Team went to the State competition at the University of Illinois and competed against 45 of the top teams in Illinios. There were medals awarded to the top five contestants in each of twenty-three events.
Here is a list of the Edison students who won medals:
Corbin Phillips medalled in 3 events
Jiwon Jeong medalled in 2 events
Julian Pomatto medalled in 2 events
Aashika Ashok won 1 medal
Jennifer Hong won 1 medal
Emily Gibson won 1 medal
Brian Jung won 1 medal
and finally, Kelisha Koradiya and Nidhi Dholaria won 1st place in the event, Compute This,- a 1st place at State!
Coach Kuppler wishes to thank all the parents and volunteer coaches who helped these great students excel, once again, at State.

- School Board: Congrats to newest school board member, Ileana Saveley. The board voted Monday night to fill the vacancy left by Greg Novak. For more info see the News-Gazette article

- CU Scholars: Attention 8th Grade students High School is just a few month away. If you have not signed up to be a part of CUScholars yet there is still time. See your counselor today for an enrollment form, then take it home, get it signed and bring it back to your counselor! http://cuschoolsfoundation.org/
- Baby Pictures for 8th grade students: It is that time of year. We are now collecting baby pictures from 8th grade students. The pictures will be displayed in the display cases across from the auditorium starting in May. The pictures will be up for all of the end of year activities and will be returned to 8th grade students and parents after Promotion. Please, write the student name on the back of the picture. Mr. Guzman will be collecting baby pictures for Explorer students and Mr. Becker will be collecting baby pictures for Navigator students.

First band begins at 5:30 PM
Come on out for for a relaxing family-friendly evening (or two) at Champaign Central's annual Jazz Fest. You'll hear great music from more than 10 local middle and high schools big bands and enjoy dinner, dessert, or snacks from our Jazz Café. Big bands from all three Champaign middle schools will play, as will those from Central, Centennial, and Urbana High School. See our website (www.maroons.org) for performance times. It's a great opportunity to introduce younger students to jazz music! You can arrive at any time, and stay as long as you'd like.
Friday evening will feature guest artist Todd Kelly, an outstanding jazz trumpet player and Director of Jazz Ensembles at Bradley University. Tim Pitchford, a trombonist and Director of Jazz at Illinois Wesleyan University, will be the guest artist performing on Saturday evening. The Parkland Big Band is also featured on Saturday's line up.
Admission at the door is $5 per person, $3 for 5th grade and younger; family maximum of $20.
