Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

Stranger Danger: Attached is another new incident about stranger danger. Please read carefully and if you have any info please contact authorities.
Open House: Attached is a flier about Edison's open house. Open House is this Thursday September 12th from 6:30–8pm. Just a reminder to parents this is a class/school overview. Teachers will not have time or opportunity to discuss individual students progress or grades.
Art Club: Edison's art teacher has a request for cast-offs. She is doing a project with Art Club this year on reuse and re-purposing--making something that you don't want into something you do. She is asking for any/all sizes of solid color t-shirts you may be wanting to get rid of. She will start collecting them as soon as you want to bring them but the project start is slated for Sept. 26th.

old paint brushes
crafte embellishments
Building Council: Building Council for Edison will be meet the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7am. The first meeting will be September 19th anyone is welcome to attend.
Poms Tryout: They are September 10, 11, and the 12 in the auditorium from 4–5:30 pm
Edison Band Golf Outing: The band program will be hosting a golf outing on Sunday, September 15th on the University of Illinois Blue Course beginning at 1pm. The cost is $75 per golfer and includes greens fee, cart, lunch and prizes. This is a fun way to spend an afternoon on the golf course and support the band at the same time! Open House Bake Sale: PTSA is having a bake sale during the Open House. We are asking for parents to donate a dozen (or more) cookies for the bake sale. Please e mail Gretchen Pein at pein@illinois.edu if you are able to donate cookies. Cookies should be dropped off the evening of the open house shortly before 6pm in the cafeteria.

Stranger Danger: Attached is a new incident regarding stranger danger.
Clarification about Homework Club: Homework Club is Tuesdays and Thursdays and the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Homework club is from 2:45-4:00pm in room 142.
Pesticide: Attached is more info for parents about advanced notification if Edison needs to use pesticides for pest control.
Ordering Closed: Spiritwear ordering is CLOSED. Distribution will be during Open House on September 12th.
Social Justice Committee: You are invited to be part of the Unit 4 Social Justice Committee. This committee is a vehicle by which we can work together to systemically improve our school district's ability to support student learning through the lens of social justice. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings. 2013-14 committee meeting dates are August 29, September 24, October 29, December 12, January 23, February 25, April 24, and May 22. All meetings are held from 5:00-6:30pm at the Mellon Board Room.
