    Edison's  Mission
    It is  our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the  focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual  student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary  education.
     
    The  Pajama Project Pajama Project:  In this spirit  of holiday giving, Edison's cross country team is sponsoring this year's  participation in the Pajama Program.  We are partnering with Robeson  Elementary school in a friendly competition with Leal Elementary and Urbana  Middle School.  Please help support to the cause by bringing in donations  of new, teen-sized pajamas for our pajama drive.  Social studies teachers  on each team are collecting pajamas now through December  12.  Pajamas  will be distributed to local children in need through Salt & Light and  CASA.
    Spiritwear  late orders/replacements pickup: If you had a replacement item, a missing  item or a new order, please pick up in the office after school.  
    Spring Musical Auditions: The  Fine Arts Department would like to announce auditions for "Edison Middle School: A Century  Celebration" to be performed on March 5,  6 and 7. We need singers, actors, dancers, and students for the parts of The  Temptations, Walter Cronkite, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Martin Luther King,  among many others.  Audition information and forms will be available  inside the entrance to the auditorium.  Auditions will be Dec.  16 and 17th, with an audition workshop on Monday, Dec.  8th.  Come help us tell the story of our school through the  last century- you won't want to miss it!
    The  next great Edison video, "Go Edison" is in full production and we need your  help!  The video will focus on school spirit and will be including a pep  rally scene with the band and cheerleaders.  We are currently seeking  donations of poster board, red paint, black paint, markers, red and white  steamers, red and white confetti, and red and white balloons.  We would  also welcome any other school spirit type props.  Please bring donations  to Ms. Rotramel or Mr. Holden by Friday, December 5.   Thank you for  your support.
    Students:  The "Go Edison video" needs your help!  Are you artistic?  Do you  have school spirit? Then come help spread Comet Pride.  We will be making posters  and banners to use in the video this  Wednesday after school in Ms.  Rotramel's room.   Come to room  330 from 2:45 to 3:30 on December 10th to help with prop  production.  Can't wait to see you there!
    Charger Preview Night is December 10th at  7:00 pm.  Come and find out about course selection for the 2015-2016  school year!  This event is open to incoming freshmen and current 9th,  10th, and 11th grade students.   There  will be an activities/sports fair with plenty of information on how your  student can get involved at Centennial High School!

    The  34th Annual Central High School  Madrigal Dinner will be presented on Saturday  and Sunday, December 13th and 14th at 5:00  p.m. in the Central Cafeteria. A Madrigal dinner is a 21st century  reenactment of a baronial feast from the European Renaissance. This family  friendly event is a beloved Central High School tradition!  Guests with  reservations are treated to a multiple course dinner and are entertained by  over 50 of Central's student musicians. Tickets are $25 per adult and $10 for  children.   Reservations are now being accepted online at http://maroons.org/madrigals/, email @ Massey.karen@hotmail.com or phone by  calling Karen Massey at 27-649-9791.  Guest not wishing to make dinner  reservations may come for the concert only.
    College Gear Fridays:  Students, wear your Avid or college gear on Friday.  Every Friday!
     
    Building Council –What do we do? We don't discuss  district issues, personnel or curricular matters, or discipline problems, but  we do brainstorm ways to improve and enrich our school  environment, and make things run more smoothly for Edison students and staff.   We would like to recruit more parents to  building council meetings.  Consider attending a meeting (held in Mrs.  Borchardt's room):
    December 11 - 3 – 4pm

    February 12 – 7am – 7:45am 
    March 12 – 3-4pm 
    April 9 – 3 – 4pm 
    May 7 – 3 - 4pm 
    
    Social Probation: Please talk to your students about social probation, which  is exclusion from participation in and/or attendance at an extracurricular school-sanctioned  activity like ball games, concerts and dances.   A student will be placed on social probation if/when:
    •He/she has not served the assigned detentions  minutes
    •He/she is failing one or more classes
    •Administration places him/her on social  probation.
    
    County Market Max Dollars for Education: if  you're a County Market shopper and wish to designate Edison as your Max card  school, sign up at www.myCountyMarket.com or  at the customer service desk at any store.  Our school code is 14088.
     
    The Edison Choir meets in the Rm. 110 from 2:50 - 4:00 pm on Tuesdays and until 4:30 on Thursdays.  Everyone is  welcome; come out to enjoy singing together and bring a friend! 
        Student Council meets in Mrs. Altenbaumer's room, 234 from  2:45-3:30. We meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month.    All students are welcome to join.   If you missed the first  meeting, talk to Mrs. Altenbaumer or Mr. Freeman, our two Co-Sponsors.   You can join anytime during the year.   Come make a difference in  your school.

    Friday Night  Basketball will be held at Vineyard Church from 7p-9p.  Vineyard is located at 1500 N Lincoln at the corner of Lincoln and Bradley in  Urbana. Basketball is open to ages 13-17. Text or call 217-299-0013.
