Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

Plastic Bottles: 8th grade science classes need 150 - 200 empty plastic 2 liter soda bottles before September 26th! We are launching rockets this year! Please bring bottles to Mrs. Easton or Mrs. Anders-Becker.

September 17
Free Dental Exams: CUPHD will be conducting free dental exams this Saturday, Septmeber 21st from 10am–1pm at their Kenyon Road location. This is for kids ages 5–17. Please see flyer for more information.
By Laws: Attached is a copy of the proposed Edison bylaws for the 2013–2014 school year. Our bylaws must be updated every two years. We will vote on approving these at the next meeting on October 8th.

PTSA Budget: Attached is the PTSA proposed budget for the 2013–2014 school year. Please look over and we will be voting to approve at the next meeting on Tuesday October 8th.
Town Hall Meeting: Champaign Community Unit School District #4 Board of Education and Administration will host a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the possible sites for a new Central High School on Monday, September 30 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Mellon Administrative Center. BIG THANKS: Big thanks to everyone who donated cookies for the PTSA bake sale. BIG BIG thanks to our volunteers, teachers, and staff who made the open house a success.

Stranger Danger: Attached is another new incident about stranger danger. Please read carefully and if you have any info please contact authorities.
Art Club: Edison's art teacher has a request for cast-offs. She is doing a project with Art Club this year on reuse and re-purposing--making something that you don't want into something you do. She is asking for any/all sizes of solid color t-shirts you may be wanting to get rid of. She will start collecting them as soon as you want to bring them but the project start is slated for Sept. 26th.
Other things we need if you have them to donate:
Beads
Embroidery floss
sewing needles
fabric paint
old paint brushes
crafte embellishments
Social Justice Committee: You are invited to be part of the Unit 4 Social Justice Committee. This committee is a vehicle by which we can work together to systemically improve our school district's ability to support student learning through the lens of social justice. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings. 2013-14 committee meeting dates are August 29, September 24, October 29, December 12, January 23, February 25, April 24, and May 22. All meetings are held from 5:00-6:30pm at the Mellon Board Room.
