Edison's Mission
It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.
Important Dates:
Early Dismissal: December 19–20 (dismissal time is 2:10pm)
Winter Break: December 23–January 3 (NO SCHOOL)
Institute Days: January 6–7 (NO SCHOOL)
School Resumes January 8 (Beginning of 3rd Quarter)

Winter Jazz Concert: Come see the Winter Jazz Concert, this Thursday, December 12th, beginnning at 7:00pm here in the auditorium! The concert will feature performances by Jazz Bands I, II, and III, as well as the new Jazz Combo. Come on out and support your peers for a night of big band and small group jazz.
Color Guard: The Marching Maroons Color Guard is hosting a meeting this Wednesday, December 11- 7:00-7:45 in the Central High School band room - located at Park / New streets. We would like to have interested 8th grade students attend this informational meeting to learn more about color guard. No dance experience is needed - just a desire to be part of an award-winning and rewarding group. Parents are welcome to attend with their children. Anyone who cannot attend is encouraged to contact band director Jennfer Currey (curreyje@champaignschools.org) to obtain information.
Early Dismissal Time: on December 19th and 20th students will be dismissed early. Early dismissal time is 2:10pm
December 9
Strings Holiday Concert: Friday, December 13 is the strings holiday concert. Come out and support the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade string students of Westview, Bottenfield, and Edison in a fun night filled with music! The performance is FREE and will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Edison Auditorium. The concert will conclude around 7:40. Cookies and juice will be served in the lobby following the performance. Hope to see you there!
Mini-Grants: Edison PTSA Mini-Grants are now available to teachers and staff! Mini –Grants are intended to support special projects that cannot be funded with allocated classroom budgets, and can be especially helpful when serving a large number of students. Ten grants of up to $150 each will be awarded. Applications will be accepted until December 13, 2014 and approved requestors will be notified by December 20. There are two more dates of events to work in November and one event for December that was just added for the State Farm Center.
***The December event is NCAA Volleyball Tournament and this information could change depending on regionals and who goes on!!!***
Please sign-up for any event you are interested in working. Stand managers that have gone through training can sign-up for the stand manager slots. Anyone else that is at least 18 years of age or has graduated from high school can work on behalf of your Edison Band student.
I will be sending this out to the PTSA if there are those that would like to sign-up to help raise money for any other Edison organization or the 8th grade field trip.
If you sign-up to work an event please email me at hlf33@hotmail.com let me know your students first and last name or if you are working on behalf of another organization. Once it is close to the event I will send out information about your event. This will include parking pass information, dress code and any other details.
