- Honor Roll Party: Friday January 18th will be Edison's Honor Roll Party. We are asking for parents to drop off snacks to the front office or send them with your student. Suggested snacks are chips, cookies, crackers, etc., This party is for students who made honor roll for second quarter.
- ATTENTION CAST MEMBERS: Cast members for A Little Princess: We will have full cast rehearsal (all leads and company) today through Friday, from 3:00-4:30 in Mrs. Mennig's room. Please bring $10.00 to receive your script (you will receive this money back at the end of the show if there are no markings in it). Any questions, please email menniger@champaignschools.org
- HS Registration: High School registration for our 8th graders will be on February 5th during the morning classes (7:55 - 12:03). Centennial and Central Counselors will be here to conduct the registration. An informative presentation will occur during the Social Studies classes on January 23rd for Mr. Guzman's classes and on January 28th for Mr. Becker's classes. Students will be given information on the High School classes that will be offered for them.
- NJHS: Applications for the Edison chapter of the National Junior Honor Society are now available on the Edison web-site and in the main office. Applications are due to Mr. Cain by March 1, 2013. Current National Junior Honor Society members do not need to complete the applications for this year, but should contact Mr. Cain about their 2012 community service hours. If there are any questions please contact Mr. Cain at cainza@champaignschools.org or 351-3771.
- No School: There will be no school on January 21st in observance of MLK day.

- MLK Writing Contest: An Edison 7th grader has received correspondence from the University of Illinois stating he has been recognized as a winner of the 11th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Writing Contest. Out of over 200 submissions the student's piece of visual art entitled My Flag Means Freedom representing his idea of What Freedom Means to Me was selected as a winner.
- Community Forums: Champaign Schools will hold informational forums to discuss the Schools of Controlled Choice registration process. The forums will also include a Showcase of Schools. This will provide an opportunity for parents and guardians to meet and talk with individual school staff members. Attached is a schedule of events.
