Edison's Mission

It is our mission at Edison Middle School to work collaboratively to place the focus on the academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student first and ensure that ALL students are prepared for post-secondary education.

 

 

October 5

 

• PTSA Meeting: The next Edison PTSA meeting will be Tuesday, October 9^th at 7pm. We will have a short guest presentation from Abigail Chen from KIDS MOVEMENT ARTS. We will be distributing calendars before the meeting. If you have ordered one and didn't pick it up yet or still want to grab one now is the time to do it. We will be selling/distributing from 6:45–7pm.

 

• Career Fair: Edison is hosting a career fair during Parent/Teacher Conferences (October 25^th and October 26^th). Sheri Williamson is looking for a few volunteers to work this event. Please contact her at swlmsn79@gmail.com. Attached is a flyer with more info.

• MLK Writing Contest: MLK writing contest sponsored by the University of Illinois/ Public Outreach see attached flyers (English and Spanish) for more info.

 

• Edison Book Fair: Edison Book fair will be October 19^th–October 26^th More information will be coming soon!

• Reflections Program/Competition: This year's theme is the Magic of a Moment. All students are encouraged to submit one or more entries of the six categories: dance, film, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. Students will submit their entries to Karen Easton<eastonka@champaignschools.org>

• Keegan Bannon Memorial Scholarship Fund: Saturday October 20^th at Jupiters at the Crossing starting at 6pm. Edison and Central Jazz Band will be performing along with other local bands! This will be the last benefit for this important cause. The benefit will help keep the scholarship fully funded. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at Central HS. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 per couple. See attached flyer for more info

 

• CUSF ADULT Extreme Spelling Bee: On November 3, 2012, the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation will hold the first annual Adult Team Extreme Spelling Bee Tournament at 6:30 p.m. at the Champaign Country Club, 1211 S. Prospect Avenue.  Distinguished judges will preside over a diabolical selection of words while teams of three compete in 5-team swarms, all vying for the opportunity to compete in the championship buzz off.  Attached is the registration form.
