- PTSA Cookie Walk
Edison PTSA is once again sponsoring a cookie walk for the staff. It will be after school on Monday, December 19th. We are looking for donations of holiday cookies and candy and volunteers to fill bakery boxes on the afternoon of the 19th. Donations can be dropped off in the staff lounge on Monday morning. If you can volunteer in any way, please contact Lynnette Dodds at lynnette24@sbcglobal.net.
- Tap In Leadership: Attached is a flyer about Tap In Leadership. The open house is Dec 14 from 3-6 for parents to check it out!

J. Michael Holmes is a talented solo and chamber musician whose active playing career has seen him performing some of the most prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, and also around Europe and Taiwan. Michael has presented clinics, masterclasses, and given performances at some of the most prestigious saxophone programs in the United States and most recently taught at the University of Oregon as a Visiting Guest Artist as well as Guest Instructor of Music at the prestigious University of Notre Dame. In the fall of 2011 Holmes began working at the University of Illinois as the Director of Enrollment Management as well as Clinical Assistant Professor of Music. World-renowned saxophonist John Sampen states that, "Michael is emerging as one of America's stars in the world of the concert saxophone."

- Edison Choir: A couple notes for Edison Middle School Choir:
Rehearsal today, 2:40-4:00.
Rehearsal Wednesday, 2:40-4:00 (parents are invited to come at 3:45 for a dress rehearsal)
Rehearsal Monday (December 12th), 2:40-4:00
MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL – Tuesday December 13th from 7:00-9:00 @ Jefferson – Parents/Students are responsible for their own transportation
CONCERT – Wednesday, December 14th at 7:30 @ Jefferson – Call time is 6:45 (Be at Jefferson at 6:45)
For anyone interested in singing at the concert on Wednesday, December 14th – the next 4 rehearsals are mandatory.

7th grade volleyball tryouts from 4:30 until 6:00 pm in the north gym
8th grade volleyball tryouts from 6:00 until 7:30 pm in the north gym
All girls interested in trying out must have the 3 pieces of required paperwork turned in to Ms. Borchardt by 8:00 am on Monday, Dec. 5.
Tuesday, Dec. 6
7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams will travel to Rantoul to face the Eater Bulldogs. First game will
begin at 5:00 pm
Wednesday, Dec. 7
6th grade boys basketball team is playing the Champaign Heat at Douglas Center at 7:15
Thursday, Dec. 8
7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams will travel south to Tolono Unity. First game will begin at 4:15.
Saturday, Dec. 10
Our wrestlers have their first meet this Sat. in Mattoon.
- Study: Edison offers a couple of different options for students who need extra help. Listed below are some study groups and clubs to help students.
Read Attack – Wednesdays for all grade levels from 2:45-3:45pm.

Community Events:
- STAR Leadership: The inaugural STAR Leadership Institute will take place on December 10,
2011 from 9 am-12:00 pm at the Champaign Public Library. The information provided at the institute will include a presentation regarding the City of Champaign*s Proposed Storm Water Utility Fee, and 2 concurrent workshops: one on the use and design of rain gardens, and
the second on broadband internet access in conjunction with the new UC2B implementation efforts in the Champaign/Urbana community. Participation is free of charge; however seating is limited. To register visit our website at
